sociology ond psychology In the emergence of the humani- ties of sociology and psychology we see manifesting themselves, juvenile court hearings, meetings in the park with loved ones, big white rats running mazes, the mystifying facts divulged by the Ouija board, and extra sensory perception. In psychology time is spent at- tempting to determine why living organisms behave the way they do. Sociology takes these individ- uals, their behavior and integrates them in order to describe group behavior. Roger and Shirley continue to prod the rat, while Bob insists that it isn't going to move. 43

concepts of mathematics The concepts of mathematics were taught through various courses: business math, geometry, algebra, advanced math, and cal- culus. Numbers, the students learned, weren't just ordinary, but they consisted of natural numbers, real numbers, whole numbers, positive integers, nega- tive integers, fractions, square roots, and various other combinations. The application of these con- cepts of math were applied to the many different kinds of problems. Business math used numbers to ligure percentages, costs, and overheads. Geometry used num- bers as degrees of angles in the various geometric figures. Al- gebra, advanced math and calcu- lus, worked out complicated nu- merical problems that only the college bound care to tackle. Are you sure that's right? If I ever get this figured out, it will be a miracle. 44 v' gigs. fin.. Miss Hart explains a difficult problem
