The preceding bearers of the colors of purple and white were outstanding. In the freshman year the class started on its career with Roland Hutchinson as president. That year they startled the school by tying With the seniors for first place in a pep stunt. Unusual representation was had by this class in debate and dramatics. The athletic ability was beginning to show itself also. I Roland Hutchinson was elected president the sophomore year. Again we won first place in a pep stunt. The class had two of the yell leaders, two basketball lettermen, and one track letterman. The debating and dramatic ability was strengthened, and the class was second only to the seniors for the citizenship cup. Ed Benoit was elected junior president. That year We had a large number of football players, and completely monopolized the basketball and debate teams. The same year we Won both of the pep stunts besides interclass basketball, softball, debate, and track. The president for the senior year was Ray Mills. We again find in the football, basketball, and debate teams a majority of the class. We won inter-class debate and the only pep stunt of the year, making a total of five victories out of seven stunts. The class led in scholarship for the year, and members were outstanding in the dramatic field. The year was climaxed by the winning of the citizenship cup. The class of '38, the last ever to don the famed colors of purple and white has thus left tothe school an outstanding record of achievement. Bell
