Backfield 0 Offense 1 L -3 Coach Dean Coach Clark I. V. CHAMPS It was a great pleasure for both Coach Dea.n and Coach Clark to work with such an outstanding group of boys. There are not enough superlatives to describe them. They were well disci- plined, dedicated, and intelligent. They worked hard the entire year and established one of the best JV football records in the history of 29 Palms High School. The statistics this team com- piled were insurmountable. The poise and confidence they displayed was unequalled in the league. They dis- played all these qualities-and more- during the last 58 seconds of the final game in Holtville. The ball was pla- ced on the Wildcats 20-yard line after the Holtville Vikings missed a field goal. John Butler, the QB of the team started one of the most exhilarating drives of the year. I-le passed to Vernon Cunningham for 25 yards, passed again to Vernon for 25 yards and another first down. Again he passed to Vernon for one more first down. John went to the air again with a 15 yard strike to Wayne Binion. With four seconds in the game, the team went straight to the line of scrimmage and John rolled to the left, going over for the winning touchdown. At the end of the play, there were two big 0's on the clock. Sports 102
