Commanding Oflicer Commander Lawrence P. Treadwell, USN 'October 1966-December 1967 Commander Lawrence Penfield TREADWELL, Jr., was born in Newport, Rhode Island on 10 April 1928. In 1945, he enlisted in the regular Navy, and in 1947, he entered the U.S. Naval Academy, at Annapolis. Upon graduation on 1 June 1951, he was commissioned Ensign, U.S. Navy and reported to USS MISSOURI QBB-63D for duty. During the next two years, Commander TREADWELL served in the Operations :Sc Gunnery Departments. This tour included a Korean Deployment in which he was the FM Division Oflicer. ' His next assignment was as an instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School, Bainbridge. This assignment lasted for a year and in june 1954, he reported aboard the USS ROWE CDD-564j. This tour as Operations Officer in- cluded a world cruise and later a Mediterranean deployment. In May 1956, he reported to Commander DestroyerFlotilla F OUR for duty as aid and Flag Secretary. In November 1957, Commander TREADWELL became Commanding Oflicer, USS MATTABESSET QAOG-52j, homeport Naples, Italy. Shore duty in the Bureau of Naval Personnel followed and in 1961, Commander TREADWELL reported to USS Charles H. ROAN QDD-8530 for duty as Executive OHicer. In July 1963, Commander TREADWELL commenced a two year course in Operations Analysis at the U.S. Post- graduate School, Monterey. Commander TREADWELL reported to USS TUTUILA QARG-4j from duty as Operations Officer aboard USS PROVIDENCE QCLG-61. Commander TREADWELL is married to the former Miss Ellen Ann MAURER of Norfolk Virginia Mrs TREAD- EVEQ-l.L and their three children, Elizabeth, Lawrence, and Christopher, are living at 218 D ,Avenue, Coronado, Cali- a ornia.
