pl92C It lb the year 1963 andl l1ave returned to thrs country to VlS1l class mates and frrends at Tuttle Oklahoma Asl came to Tuttle I went to the Chrckasha Mrllrng Company where B111 Copeland my old buddle and class mate 15 the manager He rs also the head of a famrly run by the former Peggy Autry After a v1s1t Wlth B111 l went to the Drug Store where Marrlyn Perry worked but ll seems Marrlyn rsn t work1ng there any more They told me she has a lrfe t1me Job at Sooner l ran 1nto Nlurlene Srpe and she told me she was now operatrng a beauty shop 1n Oklahoma Clty but was st1ll chasrng mrlk and bread trucks for a hobby 1 notrced a srgn advertrsrng T C, Marlow and hrs Oklahoma Outlaws rn the wrndow and Devota McCarthey rs hrs solorst but she would rather srng behrnd the counter of the Bowers Grocery l was talkrng to Roger Shrllrng and he sa1d srnce he IS marrred and runmng a grade A DBIIY he doesn t have t1me to go to Mrnco anymore I notrced a famrlrar lookmg fellow 1n a brg car come by Roger sa1d rt was Joe Mc Krnney the cowboy of our class comrng 1n from the Cheyenne Rodeo Joe 15 now the World s Champron bull r1der l was greeted by Lawrence Barnes as he come out of the bank He sa1d he was the state bank rnspector and rs mak rng money hand over frst As we were talkrng a W1lson 81 Co truck came 1nto town w1th Gene Stevens drrvrng Gene told us he wasn t marr1ed yet but he was st1l1 rnterested 1n grrls w1th long harr Com1ng back to Tuttle I had to VlS1l dear old T H S To my surprrse I found Wanada Cruzan teachrng the thrrd grade She told me Betty Black and Alma Brown were both work1ng tn Oklahoma Crty and somehow had acqurred the names of Mutt and Jeff As l was leavrng the school 1 ran 1nto another classmate of mrne Mrs Skaggs qformerly Mary Ellen Shookj who was on her way to the Pr1mary Room to strarghten out a few thrngs w1th the teacher after her l1ttle son had thrown a brrck through the wrndow After my VISII to the school I went to the Barber Shop for a shave and to my amusement l found Larry Freeze was the barber When I went rn Larry A W Cox head coach at Mrnco Hrgh School who st11l has a l1ttle t1me for the grrls Jerry Brown head of the Musrc Department at Edmond College and T C Marlow were all harmomzrng rn a Barber Shop fashron as they d1d tn Hrgh School I asked the boys about Clarence Goodman and Dempsey Melton I was told Clarence the romeo and practrcal Joker of our class could be found farmrng east of town but I forgot whom they sa1d he marr1ed They told me that Dempsey was owner and manager of the Melton Herford Farm here at Tuttle and they also sa1d Dempsey had taken a sudden lrkrng to the thrrd grade agam l was told by Velma Streber who ts now an arr lrne hostess for Trans World A1rl1nes that Dale Lawless rs drrector of Atrcraft Research Department 1n Wrchrta Kansas and rs workrng on a new super some model Velma rt seems Nas qurte rnterested rn Dale s work My next class mate to see was L1ll1an Crrsp who IS now the manager of a Medrcal Supply Company rn Dallas Texas Askrng about some of the other grrls she told me that Leah Jean Garrett better known to us as Leah Roberts was lrvrng rn Mrnco Wlth her husband and rs qurte busy w1th her famrly She sard Shrrley W1111S and Sharon Cherry weren t marrred and as a warnrng to all bachelors they had better stay hrdden because they also are v1s1t1ng Tuttle I asked about Alta Plumlee you know she wanted to be the prrvate secretary to the Presrdent But Lrllran tells me she gave up that Job to be a housewrfe for a vet I was told Wanda Cox started to school at Murry College, but marr1ed some graduate of the school before she frnxshed As I return to my agrrculture extensron work rn Brazrl, I frnd myself wrshrngl could 11ve over those happy yearsl spent w1th all my classmates at Tuttle Hrgh School C I - I ' Y I - 1 ' ' .. . . . .I . - - .
