CLASS HISTORY Monday September 5 1938 joy McCroskey Paul Plumlee Leon Case Roe Lee Chaney Wanema Cherry, George Englebretson Ted Gannaway Maudxe Sxngletary Buddy Skaggs Arlene Tate Anna Ienell Hardesty and joe Stxnchcomb went to school for the fxrst txme The second year we were Joxned by Matt jones Jr These 13 contxnued through thexr fxrst fxve years gettlng whlpplngs for chewxng gum and many other thlngs to numerous to mentxon Wonder nf Wanema Cherry remembers that cabbage pot holder she made ln Mrs Hudson s room the flrst th1ng she ever made by herself and do you remember the bxrd houses Buddy Skaggs Roe Lee Chaney and joe Stxnchcomb made the same year? CLASS PROPHECY It IS the summer of 1960 and I have decrded for my vacatron to vrsrt my former senror classmates who spent some trme on the Rock for THS wrth me W en I got to Tuttle I went to Betty Autry s garage for a motor tune up Betty was the mechanrcal brarn of the classj Then I dropped rn on Roe Lee haney now owner of Tuttle Theatres Inc Roe challenged me to a game of snooker so off to Bob s snooker parlor we went You all remember Bob Culp the tall athlete who always had De trort on hrs mrnd Comrng out of the pool hall I nearly knocked Gene Arnett down he was carryrng grocerres and packages for Helen Poor Gene I took to the country roads and found joe Strnchcomb cultrvatrng cotton I just stopped long enough to ask about joe J and ane It wasn t long before I came to the best bottom land rn the country and who could own thrs except Buddy Skaggs on kn w who the cky grrl but rt rs probably Shlrley Harold DeShazo lrves on down the road from Bud where he has a Hampshrre hog farm Besrdes berng the best hog caller rn the State that lrttle Dutch man rs cookrng for hrm I ask Harold what had happened to hrs huntrng partner Charles Coats He sard I could frnd hrm farmrng for B111 jeffrres I drove out to see Mrs Campbell formerly Anna jenell Hardesty She and Earl have twrns who start to school thrs fall also talked to Roy whrle was there He rs presrdent of the Watermelon Growers Assocratron rs r a bachelor but Dorothy Cofer hasn t grven up yet Roy told m he had a letter from Leon Case Leon rs operatrng a depot rn Pocunk Arkansas and rs gettrng frlthy rrch eon rsn t marrred erther b t I hear Alta Plumlee rs vrsltrn I found Arlene Tate Irene Rrch joy HcCroskey and Betty Marn are str members of the Future Old Mards of Amerrca Club Irene rs presrdent and joy and Betty are strong members but Arlene 1S weakenrng As for Don Rrch he rs now playrng pro football for the Los Angeles Rams Havrng played frve full seasons he rs makrng a great name for hrmself Roe Lee mentroned that when he flew to Calrfornra last f ll to see th Rams play, he met Wanema Cherry on the plane She had frnrshed her nurses trarnrng and was a hostess for Amerrcan Arrlrnes She told hrm that he pro bably wouldn t see frm Yates for rather Senator Yatesj for some trme srnce he and Maudze Srngletary who rs hrs prrvate secretary are rn Washrngton Before I left Tuttle I found out that George Englebretson Qthe artrst of our classj has an art studro rn New York Crty and he rs dorng qurte well was surprrsed to hear that he had as hrs model Darlene Klepper who has become well known as a professronal model and fashron stylrst I met Carl jackson rn Bob s snooker parlor told me that he had ready made corporal rn the Natronal Guard Edward Trlson rs owner and manager of the Trlson Grocery at Cougar and Bobby McK1ttrrck rs hrs bookkeeper Bobby told me that he had some money saved and was thrnkrng about buyrng half rnterest rn the store Floyd Warrner owns a frne darry northeast of Tuttle He sard that he was makrng lots of money but that hrs wrfe was spendrng most of rt I forgot o ask hrm who he marrred Matt jones rs doing qurte well also He purchased half rnterest rn the constructron company where he worked Now rt rs called Boardman Jones Con structron company I was just leavrng Tuttle rn route to my home rn St Lours when r nearly smashed rnto Paul Plumlee He was pullrng out of a hay freld wrth hrs one man baler just as everyone thought Paul has turned out to be a very successful farmer Now, as I return to my medrcal practrce rt seems as though I have lrved these past ten years over and have shared the Joys and sorrows of each of my former classmates at Tuttle Hrgh 12 ' ' la g n D - .
