WINTER STUDENT LEADERS STRIVE FUR SERVICE Every President wants to be the best, and will do anything to achieve that goal. I am no exception. I was far too idealistic in the beginning, thinking that through my hands Tustin High could become immortal. That was my goal and I failed. Before taking over the Presidency everyone told me that it would be a lot of hard work I for one hated hard work but enloyed this office immensely Ive met many new people I never would have seen out of this office Homeroom spokesmen and secretaries were an ex periment this year and will be used more extensively in the future It takes time to create a sound system and I believe this will be an asset to your school stu dent government in the future I have left my mark and will be remembered as I walk away as all past presidents I thank the students faculty and all other persons outside and inside the school that made my semester as Student Body Pres: dent complete Chuck Mitchell first semester Student Body President 'Nr Chuck Mitchell L to R Rev L E Mark Chuck Mitchell Fred Walker Rev Karl Christ Orville Northrup at Homecoming dedicatvon ceremonies this year has been to preserve the unity and spirit of Tustin High as the student body and community grows The first semester Student Body officers did their ut most to do this gob Chuck Mitchell Student Body President presided at all assemblies and was head of the Board of Control He represented the student body at various functions Roland Oqeda Vice President was chairman of Stu dent Relations and was in charge of the clean up campaign Phyllis Harshaw secretary took accurate minutes of all business meetings and was in charge of all correspondence The Self Government Chairman Carolyn Hyatt did an efficient 'ob of heading the Self Government Com mittee The athletic managers Karen Marshek and Terry Jay did a terrific 'ob of promoting good sportsman ship and making friends for Tustin STUDENT BODY OFFICERS L to R Terry Jay Roland Oleda Phyllis Harshow Carolyn Hyatt Chuck Mitchell Karen Marshek I0 I Y QQ ' l - One of the main iobs of the Student Body officers EI H . r . , . 1 I . THE REINS OF LEADERSHIP LIE IN CAPABLE if C 'A 1 'Nr Chuck Fuscher Second Semester Student Body President The spring semester proved to be a good one. I think I was lucky to have student government officers who pos- sessed the intelligence and initiative to get things accom- plished. Unfortunately, the average student does not realize how much time the student body officers invest in their duties. Probably our main effort in office was to increase school spirit through an increase of activities and a decrease of restrictions. Abiding by the old proverb Variety is the spice of life we have come up with some different ideas to make school more enloyable Class yells at assemblies lukebox In the cafeteria an early dismissal on Friday for an extra clean campus these are the most important of our ideas Representing the student body as its president is the greatest honor one may achieve during his high school career I have enloyed this office and have put everything I could into making It a successful one I only hope that next semester s president will have as wonderful an expert ence as I have had this semester Sincerely yours Chuck Fischer 2nd semester student body president 12 Student Body Officers Left to Right Sherryl Morrison Dave Kampert Chuck Fischer Carolyn Hyatt Larry Francis Sweet strains of music in our ears Due to popular demand and public pressure it was de cided to have student body officers second semester The new group was headed by a most worthy president Chuck Fischer As leader of the student body he had several difficult duties to perform His easter tasks included a new lnno vation in excusing assemblies O K you can shag to your sixth period classes Next In line was the Vice President Larry Francis He soon found himself faced with similar duties as those of the Prestdent His main duties were the running of Student Relations and working on the Board of Control and Self Government committees In doing his own prescribed duties and in backing up the President Larry performed a quite adequate rob No executive or large firm can perform well without a Secretary So it is with Tustin High We were fortunate to have Sherryl Morrison the second part of the year As Secretary she was outstanding and did exceptionally well using the filing cabinets in the Student Activities room Sherryl also had several responsibilities as a student body officer Her robs required her to take minutes at all Student Body meetings and government groups To our Treasurer we extend a hearty thanks This is an office that few people know of and Dave Kampert did well in the role He kept our funds in order and guarded his figures with an eagle eye 1 I . , a I 5 I l 1 f I .
