WINTER STUDENT LEADERS STRIVE FUR SERVICE Every President wants to be the best, and will do anything to achieve that goal. I am no exception. I was far too idealistic in the beginning, thinking that through my hands Tustin High could become immortal. That was my goal and I failed. Before taking over the Presidency everyone told me that it would be a lot of hard work I for one hated hard work but enloyed this office immensely Ive met many new people I never would have seen out of this office Homeroom spokesmen and secretaries were an ex periment this year and will be used more extensively in the future It takes time to create a sound system and I believe this will be an asset to your school stu dent government in the future I have left my mark and will be remembered as I walk away as all past presidents I thank the students faculty and all other persons outside and inside the school that made my semester as Student Body Pres: dent complete Chuck Mitchell first semester Student Body President 'Nr Chuck Mitchell L to R Rev L E Mark Chuck Mitchell Fred Walker Rev Karl Christ Orville Northrup at Homecoming dedicatvon ceremonies this year has been to preserve the unity and spirit of Tustin High as the student body and community grows The first semester Student Body officers did their ut most to do this gob Chuck Mitchell Student Body President presided at all assemblies and was head of the Board of Control He represented the student body at various functions Roland Oqeda Vice President was chairman of Stu dent Relations and was in charge of the clean up campaign Phyllis Harshaw secretary took accurate minutes of all business meetings and was in charge of all correspondence The Self Government Chairman Carolyn Hyatt did an efficient 'ob of heading the Self Government Com mittee The athletic managers Karen Marshek and Terry Jay did a terrific 'ob of promoting good sportsman ship and making friends for Tustin STUDENT BODY OFFICERS L to R Terry Jay Roland Oleda Phyllis Harshow Carolyn Hyatt Chuck Mitchell Karen Marshek I0 I Y QQ ' l - One of the main iobs of the Student Body officers EI H . r . , . 1 I . John Sours Civics, Counselor, Sports Jack Trathen Commercial, Junior Class Adviser LAMP OF KNOWLEDGE RUSSELL SULLIVAN ioined our faculty after receiving his B.A. at Whittier. He has an illus- trious past, having been a pro baseball player. Now he's a track coach, and math teacher. JACK TRATHEN teaches Typing, Shorthand, and General Business. He earned his B.A. in his home state, Pennsylvania, and his Master's at U.C.L.A. ARNOLD TROFTGRUBEN received his Bache- lor of Science in Agriculture at North Dakota Agricultural college. He teaches vocational agriculture and horticulture, and sponsors one of Tustin's most active clubs, the Future Farm- ers. GEORGE TROTTER is one of our Algebra instructors. He received his B.A. at Monmouth College and his Master's at U.S.C. He coached an Orange League co-champion baseball team last year, and also coaches our varsity basketball. EDDIE VEEH heads the Science Department and sponsors Delta Sigma. Last year, his B Basketball team was a championship team, JOHN VEEH received his B.A. from Cal and teaches Tiller English classes, He's been at Tus- tin for l3 years and has coached our B team to 3 Orange League Championships. He spon- sors the Freshman Class and is also a D Bas- ketball coach. MRS. HOLLY VISEL is our beginning and ad- vanced drama instructor. She graduated from Cummack Professional School. She sponsors the Thespians. MRS. FAY WALSWORTH received her B.A. at Oregon State College. She is Tustin's one and only home economics teacher. RALPH WILSON is in his first year at Tustin. He received his B.A. from Oklahoma and teaches Spanish and French. He also sponsors Spanish Club.
