WHS IlHINlIIPHl'S MlSSHHl This message, written just after Tustin defeated Whittier for the Southern California basketball championship, should very appropriately dwell on the value of good sportsmanship and team work as a commercial asset. The day of the rugged individualist is past. Today no one can succeed markedly without the aid of one's fellows. We can't all be brilliant: We can't all be financial wizards: We can't all be champions but we can all be courteous. We can all be fair ---and courtesy and fairness are the foundations of good sportsmanship, Coupled with average ability, ---courtesy, fairness, and team work are a trio hard to beat. Best of all they are a trio that are ours for the taking. Be wise! Fill up! Without money and without price! I. W. Means.

1937... To one of the best loved members of the faculty and coaching staff, Mr. Ernest R. Ernie Byrne, we co-dedicate the 1937 Audion, hoping thus to express our appreciation of all that he means to Tustin Union High School. Mr. Byrne's commercial students not only have won many honors at typing, but also ranked very high in the commercial bookkeeping contests held every year. To a good teacher, a good coach, a good friend, a good scout ---- to YOU, 'AErnie Byrne.

IH37.. VIIIiI1HINEIPHl'S Columbus, you remember, discovered our continent while seeking a more direct trade route to India. Great Britain, according to Lewis Browne. expanded her empire in the early nineteenth century to insure markets for her rapidly developing manufactures. Many records reveal that, in all periods of time, man's greatest interest have been in the field of commerce. Man has invented machines to increase production, has improved transportation for a quicker delivery of goods, has built great and beautiful cities, and has offer- ed wearing apparel, house furnishings, labor-saving devices, auto- mobiles, and entertainment that have lured eager buyers. Two words, unemployment and strikes remind us, however. that commerce offers problems as well as comforts. These may be national and world problems, but they are, it seems to me, problems which must be solved by the daily application of basic principles. You as students and I as a teacher can help to establish the habit of thinking and dealing fairly. We can consider the other person's rights. give our very best in whatever we do, and campaign for justice for all. We can begin with the everyday relationships at home and at school. When honest thinking and fair dealing have become our daily practice, we shall apply them to any business in which we are engaged. Emma B. Hield. Y
