I .4 'Xi onewoncll We, the 1936 Audion staff, in choosing the general theme of Football have tried to point out the historical and literary values rather than to stress as a sport the game many believe over-emphasized today. Since football is considered by many as the American sport, we must place it in its rightful position and there rec- ognize it as a component factor in American enjoyment and diversion. We are not trying to further emphasize an already greatly popularized sport, but to portray the historical and literary background of football. If those who glance through the pages of this annual will drop all prejudices as they look upon the classical side of this character building sport, and if all will derive enjoyment and fond remembrance from this school record, then the staff has sincerely achieved its utmost aspirations. ---The Editor.

Uonincilpafa Cvvleahaqe Football is a rough game---too rough for high school or football is a rough, hard game---just what we need in high school . Take your choice. Personally I think that high school football, properly conducted, is well nigh indispensable. lt is our first he-man developer. Many a former molly- coddle would still be a mollycoddle but for the hard knocks received in football. If you can not take orders, never try to give orders. Many a boy has learned this truth on the football field. Some boys respect nothing but brute force. Football supplies plenty of brute force but it does far more. It also offers wonderful training in team work or cooperation, yet develops leadership. lt can not make a man out of nothing but many times it does wonders with unpromising material. Fashions change but let us hope that we will continue to play good, hard football. ---I. W. Means.
