SADD SADD Active in Driving Awareness Program by Duane Glides The Tussey Mountain High School Chapter of the SADD organization (Students Aganist Drunk Driving) has been very active since its founding last year. The chapter advisor, Glenn Young, driver education and health teacher, has initiated many projects in the school to help prevent drunk driving in our area. These projects were geared toward making the student aware of drunk driving and its consequences. Some of these projects were an infor- mative bulletin board and the distribu- tion of contracts for life and other pam- phlets. The contract for life is signed by a student and the student’s parents. By signing, the student agrees to call home for a ride (no questions asked) if he is ever in a situation where he or another person is intoxicated and need a ride home. The SADD Chapter has also shown drunk driving films to senior high students the week before prom night and before similar events throughout the year. Plans for the future include a “SADD Day” at school. This would consist of public speakers, films, distribution of materials and possibly representatives from other SADD Chapters in the area. Plans are also be- ing made for a field trip to the Hershey Training Center and Police Barracks. The SADD officers are: president, Todd Spargo; vice president, Michelle Rourke and secretary-treasurer. Lone Hess.
