Reflection years are years of uncertainty... Confusion... of loneliness... Of serenity... and love. 1 Our reflections are of today’s storms The ups and downs. . But there are the inevitable calms. IlV then begin to see things as... We never have before, . . . Abide in the hopes of tomorrow’s dawn... And find majestic beauty therein. Walkways of wisdom becfton us into the world beyond... And in the end... Reflections are merely dreams of tomorrow. Pat has also been honored by several other awards during her four years at TCHS, among these are four Rotary Awards, an Illinois State Scholarship, Most Intellectual of the Class of 1972, and an entry in Merit’s WHO’S WHO OF AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. None of these are surprising when one considers Pat has a 5.0 average. This summer Pat is planning on attending Eastern Illinois University, where she plans on majoring in biological sciences. After college Pat hopes to go into a biological field, possibly even teaching. During her spare time Pat collects banana stickers. She is also occupied by her duties as president of Science Club and by playing the clarinet in the band. SAR This year’s Sons of the American Revolution Award went to Jerry Frye. He has also received the title of Most Musical of the Class of 972. Jerry’s grade point is a 4.0. Jerry plans on attending Western Illinois University next year, but he does not know what he is going to major in. His extracurricular activities are numerous. He is interested in all sports and participates in golf cross-country, and water skiing. Jerry is also president oj the Senior Class, president of Chorus, in Madrigals, and in T-Club. Jerry is Jirst chair cornet in the band and he plays the kazoo for fun. LaRene Anderson Jan Apgar Sam Bechtel Michele Auten Connie Benner Cindy Bateman Susie Benner JUNIORS JUNIORS U | O f R . For Mr. Koshe’s third year at Tuscola High School has been an outstanding one. Mixed Chorus was outfitted with sweaters for performances; Concert Choir was attired in full formal dress. Chorus gave three concerts this year, each better than the one before. It's no wonder why they were invited to sing at numerous community functions. Their trips even included an all-day clinic in Edwardsville under the direction of Dr. Van Camp. Then, chorus topped off the year with a modified version of Oklahoma . It seems so true, for these choirs at least, that each year is better than the one before. T.C.H.S. CHOIRS MADRIGALS FIRST ROW: Michele Auten, Steve Wetzel. Science Club PROJECTIONIST CLUB SPRING PROM 1971 “Somewhere, My Love ” Where are the beautiful days? Where are the sleigh rides ’till dawn? Where are the tender moments oj splendor? Where have they gone? Where have they gone? Somewhere, My Love there will be songs to sing, Although the snow covers the hope of spring, Somewhere a hill blossoms in green and gold, And there are dreams all that your heart can hold. Someday we’ll meet again my love, Someday wherever the spring breaks through. You’ll come to me out of the long ago, Warm as the wind soft as the kiss oj snow, Till then my sweet think of me now and then, God speed my love 'till you are mine again. 100 Becky .... four scissor steps. Mother may I? Skid? Are you afraid of heights? Or have you just decided that’s where you want to stay? Larry’s job during Prom is the ceiling. Kathy and Sue, don’t just sit there, get to work on that pond! Poor baby! 101 One of the most difficult jobs is that darn crepe paper! 102 SOMEWHERE MY LOVE 103 PROM 1971 As each individual’s high school year progresses, he looks forward to his junior year and his very FIRST!! prom. This past prom, with “Somewhere My Love” as the theme, consisted of a number of events. The exciting evening began with a dinner at East Prairie cafeteria, followed by the dance. The evening came to a conclusion with a movie in Villa Grove. Time, effort, and money were spent on a prom that did turn out a success. FALL 105 ■ Cfrrf-.t, tjflrrc Snoopy proved to be quite the hero for the freshman class. “We’U Get You Sages turned out to be a successful slogan for freshmen, first■ prize winners. Sages Are Super Chickens” brought a second place award to the sophomore class. 106 Floats Jo Huber explains the fundamentals for building a float. Hvui Marcia Hausmann seems to be quite enthusiastic about getting the float done. Hey, whose float is in the making, Doug? Mr. Brandon’s? The juniors took third place with their original float theme, “Run Over Sages”. More Floats It sure looks like Kathy, Jan, and Barb are enjoying the float-making. “No, I think we should put gold tissue in that section of chicken-wire.” The seniors’ float, “Go, Go, Warriors”, which featured a Warrior Wigwam, took Ted Galey works hard(?) to get his class’s float fourth place. completed. 107 Mary Waite and Steve Wetzel Jack Quinn and Nancy Pendergras. It seemed like Nancy could hardly find time to complete her own pages, yet she woulil always take time out to help someone else. How often had we found our pages mysteriously completed or our copy sheets typed by Nancy so that we would meet our deadline? Quite often. Still Jew, if any oj us, realize just how hard Nancy did work this past year, but that doesn’t prevent us from appreciating her long hours of hard work. Finally we, the TUSCOLIAN staff, would like to thank you, Nancy, for putting up with us this past year and for helping us make what we believe is the best TUSCOLIAN ever published for TCHS. 114 WINTER 115 116 SPOR TS VARSITY CHEERLEADERS: FRONT ROW: Cindy Morrow.
