We leave with the thought of Tuscola High School in our hearts. The purity and the goodness we have gained here will never be forgotten. It is with humble esteem that we dedicate this will to all those who look back on these great memories of the golden past. WILL COMMITTEE Doug McCumber, Ann Hoke Vickie Vinson, Garrett Graham Don't smile, Kathy! Nine Coaches Waiting Senior Class Play Senior Prophecy Almost there,” cries Wayne Runyan. Fire retros. Larry Bunting instantly reacts and the rocket gently sets down. The moon looks fertile here, around the false air pocket created by the Earth Scientists. Larry and Wayne, followed by Bob Baer, climb out of the rocket ship. Greeting them is the class of '67 for their annual reunion. It's on the moon, that's right. President and Vice-President, John Bundy and Charles Holmes, introduce the trio to the governing body, Howard Norton, Christine Yutzy, Steve Wallace, and Mike Wright. The opposition, Tom Wheeler, Nick Flesor, and Barry Kleiss, were defeated in the last election, and now really competent men are in control. Laughing this off, Wayne and Police Chief, Kenneth Kappes, stroll into die Moon Malted Shop, esq. and order milk--straight! Waited on by Fred Rahn and Lyle McCollam, their order was delayed slightly by Mark Wesch, who quaffed the draughts, looked up, and smiled. Rob Koehnemann shows him the exit. Wayne smacks the side of his head as he spies Anne Nunn and Nell Nunn, but soon he remembers they're twins and he's not seeing double. Bill Evans and Steve Rairden are discussing the uses of moon fertilizer. Around the shop's tables are most of the rest of the class. Larry saunters over to one table where Tom Mann, Ted Leithliter, Mark Toomey, and Doug McCumber are quarreling over a card game. Suddenly Doug rises and blasts Mark into nothingness. Shocked, Larry moves toward Doug but is restrained by the waitresses, Alice Kleiss, Andrea Surma, and Candy Taylor, who is Head Bouncer. They explain that Mark will return in two days. Relieved, Larry table-hops some more. Carol Teeters, Paula Smith, and Barbara Ochs are Indian wrestling with Randy Smith, Dana Bishop, and Wendy Warren. You know who'll win! Sue Aldridge, assisted by Lynnette Ashwill and Karla Bradshaw, paints a moon landscape. The picture is solid black--unfortunately it's at night. Dancing to the jukebox are Phillip Benner, Jim Beyers, Bob Seaney, Bonnie Butler, Marilyn Kleiss, and Susan Burress. There’s only one record, and it’s been playing for the last hour, but they seem to enjoy it . Wayne Reinhart and Terry Reinhart are telling everybody that they're brothers for the 100th time--but it's boring up there as Teresa Brinkley explains. Sharon Copeland, Vicki Vinson, Kathy Kelsey, and Ann Hoke are 70 making a hasty exit. Maybe they'll open the door next time and avoid a headache. Outside, Dorothy Wilson, Leila Otto, and Adella Peecher are showing their judo to Janet Donaldson, Sue Cromwell, Barbara Miller, and Deborah Cooley. Hidden nearby, avoiding considerable bruising is Valerie Helm. Mike Cunningham and John Coffey look worried, and Christine Cook is wild with anxiety. Kent Ragsdale and his personally guided tour of the moon hasn't returned yet. Suddenly a flash on the horizon! Bob goes to investigate, accompanied by Steve Lyons, the local street-sweeper (there aren't any streets yet), and Gary Little. The source of the flash was Kent crashing into a crater. He stumbles out, assuring everyone he was glad to show them such a nice safe tour. But Eric Frahm, Gary Graham, Kathy Hanners, Harlen Hatchel, and Linda Hommes are too shaken to hear. Gary Cole, Jerry Cohen, and Bill Cook are discussing a future elevator sight. There isn't any grain, but that's irrelevent, they snap. Ann Charnetzki and Greg Eaton, operating the Moon Loan Assoc., have loaned these three enterprising men 100,000 nothings (there isn’t any money either) which, with interest compounded annually will yield the firm exactly nothing. Expert calculations like these are made by the board of trustees --Chuck Grimm, Joe Gary, Clarence Elder, John Rutherford, and Emanuel Fauke. They do it with the expert advice of Hot Rod Magazine--like we said, expert! Bob Eveland and Bill Irwin gaze at the romantic earth and comment on it. Vicki Strohl, Kathy Hayes, and Susan Nuccio are shooting the moon, but their aim is way off and the bullets are falling short. Near by, Pat Keen, Wayne Lietz, Mike House, and Chuck Nater are jumping up and down. They still can’t get over leaping up thirty feet. Scott Stahler and Dennis Stevens are giving Alan Sebens a bad time with some hair clippers again. Finally Wayne, Bob, and Larry are sent back to Earth by Pam Thoman, Sherry Hebert, and Susan Van-Voorhis, the moon's catering company. Well, they've blasted off, but they'll return next year--if the moon is still there. What's the matter, Harlen? Didn't the calculations measure right? Class History In September 1963 the Class of '67 entered the doors of Tuscola High School utterly confused. We learned that High School wasn’t as bad as we thought it would be. Choosing officers was a new experience for us, but election returns provided good leadership in our first year of school: Pat Keen, President; Kathy Hanners, Vice-President; Lynnette Ashwill, Secretary; Doug McCumber, Treasurer; June Edwards, Student Council. Our first main project of the year was our float (which will live forever in the annals of T.C.H.S. history)--It was a red pig! The theme, We'll Hog Tie 'Em , helped us to win a surprising third place. Thanks to our sponsors, Miss Etzwiler, Mrs. Rager, and Mr. Brown, now our principal, we embarked upon our first sales adventure, a candy sale. By the time September '64 rolled around we no longer retained our confused looks, but we still hadn't learned very much! We elected Wendy Warren as President; Gary Little, Vice-President; Marilyn Kleiss, Secretary; Wayne Runyan, Treasurer; Pat Keen, Student Council. We still had a large class, although we suffered the loss of Bruce Beatty, Joe Holland, Sandra Waters, and Valerie Fair. To ease this loss, we gained Vicki Vinson. One of the highlights of our Sophomore year was placing second in the Homecoming float competition with the theme, We're Grinding for Victory . Again our sponsors, Mr. Underwood, Mr. Brown, and Mrs. Silkey came up with money-making ideas--especially car washes. Then it happened! We finally became upperclassmen. In the excitement we lost Donna Auten, Vicki Garner, and Mark Teel. After the dust settled two new faces appeared--Sherry Hebert and Mike Wright. This time we selected our leaders with care for we had the Prom to put on, and it was an important event. Marilyn Kleiss, President; Wendy Warren, Vice-President; June Edwards, Secretary; Wayne Runyan, Treasurer; Andrea Surma, Student Council. We picked up two new sponsors this year. Our float was different, but it did take third place. It was Brewing Up School Spirits . After Homecoming it was time for us to start work on the Prom. We sold about everything that year to make money--stationery, candy, and even had car washes again. The annual Junior magazine sale barely made us enough money to have a Prom. The Junior Class play, Peace Corps Girls, directed by Mrs. Motta, was a great success. Then came time for us to start work on the Prom. Our sponsors, Mrs. Erickson, Mrs. Hemann and Mr. Underwood had as much fun getting it ready as we did. The Prom was a great success for everybody. The theme, Over the Rainbow , turned out to be one of the most colorful Proms in T.C.H.S. history. We thought it was fantastic. Other events were Eric Frahm, Gary Graham, and Doug McCumber going to Boys' State. To Girls' State, Andrea Surma was chosen with Marilyn Kleiss as alternate. The year ended with the sad news of June Edwards moving to Florida. We let her know how much we would miss her and had a big splash party. In the final year of our high school careers we chose Eric Frahm, President; Christine Cook, Vice-President; Lynnette Ashwill, Secretary; Melody Allison, Treasurer; Paula Smith, Student Council. Our sponsors were Mr. Trimble, Mrs. Erickson, Mrs. Engdahl. Our last struggle to win first place in the Homecoming parade was won with the theme, We Batter Whip 'Em . Homecoming proved to be a success with Sharon Copeland and Dana Bishop being chosen as the royal pair. Other events found Andrea Surma and Eric Frahm winning DAR and SAR awards. The lucky winner of the Betty Crocker Homemaking Award was Vicki Vinson. The Senior Class Play, Nine Coaches Waiting added the mysterious touch. We put the ribbon on our package of high school May 29. The day we had all waited for, graduation, came with a surge of pomp and ceremony. However, we cannot leave without giving thanks to all the faculty, administrators, and others who helped us walk the path of life these past four years.
