Senior Class Third Place Homecoming Parade French Club Freshman Class G.A.A. Class History In August of 1960, the Freshman Class entered T.C.H.S. with visions of millions of windows, numerous lights, and a hideous number of tile blocks covering the floors-- all to be counted by the green Freshmen. The representatives of the seventy-eight member class were Eric Pflum, President; Herb Budden, Vice President; Brenda Stewart, Secretary; Judy Froman, Treasurer; Kenny Strohl, Student Council Representative. With the help of our brilliant leaders and our advisors, Miss Deer, Miss Dickinson, and Mr. Maloney, we learned that there were about 550 lights, 1000 windows, and too many tiles to count. Our first major project of our high school years was the Homecoming float Unity's Last Stand. But we regret to report it won nothing except the Freshmen's approval. Our Homecoming celebration was climaxed with the title of cochampions of the Okaw Valley given to the T.C.H.S. Warriors. As Sophomores we lost our green look and gained a little more confidence. We elected Eric Pflum, President; Clayton Harriss, Vice President; Brenda Stewart, Secretary; Patti Jenks, Treasurer; Kenny Strohl, Student Council Representative. Through the loss of Dennis Billings, Steve Chapman, Bob Green, William Larson, Kenneth McCollam, Dennis Madix, Joe O’Brien, Mike Reynolds, Tim Rond, Thomas Walker and Wesley Radar, and the addition of Diana Botts, Bob Thomas, Steve Douglas, Roger Foley and Virgil Wells, our enrollment dropped to 73. We worked extra hard on the Homecoming float Dealing for Victory to make up for the preceding year, but to no avail. Our float did not place. Happily, our T.C.H.S. Warriors took first place as Regional Basketball Champions. During the summer of 1962, the Juniors staged a phone marathon. We talked continuously for 144 hours! WHEW! ! Finally we were upperclassmen with a grand total of 72 members to help the administrators run the school. The new members to help us were: Mike Koger, James Horeth, Carolyn Reinbold, Ernie Brewer, and Roger Carlz. We lost Eddie Dole, Darlene Donnals, Merdith Endsley, Helen O’Brien, and Jacki Thomas. The class was successfully led by Clayton Harriss, President; Phil Schultz, Vice President; Jeanine Houser, Secretary; Patti Jenks, Treasurer; Dennis Stewart, Student Council Representative. Our Homecoming float We’re Not Lion, We’re the Beast finally received Honorable Mention. The Junior Class Play, Terror in the Suburbs , was very successfully presented under the direction of Miss Weaver. Everyone helped to make our magazine sales and fund raising activities a success. With cooperation from everyone and excellent help from our sponsors, we were able to give a beautiful prom for the Juniors and Seniors. The theme of Southern Cotillion was evident in every corner of the Community Building on April 27. After an enjoyable evening of dancing to the orchestra of Bob Norman, we were entertained with a free show and a pre-dawn breakfast. And then we reached the summit! We were Seniors! Our class totaled 73 members with the addition of Minna Wells, Sam Anderson, Dick Cromwell, and Major Madole. During the summer we lost Ernie Brewer, Stephen Douglas, and Mike Koger. To guide us through our final year we chose Clayton Harriss, President; Janet Ochs, Vice President; Judy Hanners, Secretary; Jeannette Lindsay, Treasurer; Phil Schultz, Student Council Representative. Once again our Homecoming float We're Matchless did not place. But Homecoming was truly a glorious event this year with Patti Jenks and Clayton Harriss being chosen Homecoming Queen and King by the student body. The Senior Class Play was presented on April 30 and May 1. The Mouse that Roared was directed by Mrs. Motta who made it an outstanding success The reception and prom given to us by the Junior Class was excellent. Our Senior Skip Day was enjoyed by all. The final project of the year was the Yearbook which you are now reading. Baccalaureate and Commencement were held on May 24 and 27. Thus ended the high school days of the Class of 1964. We thank all who struggled with us through our preparatory years. And a very special thanks to our advisors: Miss Deer, Miss Dickinson, and Mr. Maloney. Teresa Little TCHS answer to the Beatles. It was in my locker all the time! Wigs Si to the office! Candid Camera Just what I've always wanted! The Artists. A happy foursome. Prophecy It certainly is strange the way things happen these days. I'm Phil Deaver and I work for a prominent newspaper here in New York, Last week, just before I went on my summer vacation, while I was covering the headline story of the feud between W. Richard Matthews, leader of the U.A. W. and Miss Bonnie Powell, well-known head of General Motors, I found myself sitting in an air-raid shelter next to an old high school classmate. During the routine air-raid drill, G. D. Forrester, now coach of the Baltimore football team, the Mares, talked with me about the old TCHS days. He informed me that he was not the only guy in our graduating class who had gone into football. Clayton Harriss was coaching the local New York Midgets, and Andy Jolley and Rick Beatty were making names for themselves as pro-football players. We were interrupted by civil defense worker, Deborah Dumas, who gave the all clear to those in our shelter. As we prepared to depart, Mr. Forrester stated that he was on vacation and that he had nowhere to go. I told him that after I finished the story I was working on, my as-yet-unplanned vacation would begin. We decided to spend those days together. After setting a rendezvous point for the next day, we departed. I had no more than gone around the corner toward my car when I heard someone call to me. I turned, only to see two ladies--also classmates from the old high school. It was Janet Ochs, assistant to the famous expert in dentistry, Dr. Samuel Anderson, and her companion, Dr. Mary Patricia Jenks. They, too, were planning their summer vacations . I asked them if they wished to accompany Mr. Forrester and me on our trip. They agreed, although Dr. Jenks said that she would have to return in time to embark on a voyage to an Africa Mission with Priest Michael O'Laughlin and Roger Winn. We agreed. The next day, my story finished and in print, I met Mr. Forrester, Miss Ochs, and Dr. Jenks, and we planned our trip, a vacation through Europe and Asia. The following day our foursome departed from Kennedy Airport on a supersonic jet, the pilot of which we soon learned was Capt. Bill Adkisson, and a stewardess, who we discovered was Sarah Keigley. We landed in Paris, France and the girls found it necessary to visit the famous hairdresser, Eric La Pflum. After departing from his private place of business, they went directly to one of the well-known French designers where they saw famous models such as Brinda la Ruby and Norma Jean de Beard. These girls enjoyed their day sightseeing in Paris. We took off for Germany, and upon landing in Berlin, we decided to visit the elegant German Beer and t-iankfurter Pub owned by Burnt Wiener and Phil Schlitz. Our stomachs full, and energy back, we decided to visit the action-packed American Embassy. U.S. Ambassador, Herbert Dean Budden, and his personal secretary, Linda Benner, showed us the Wall and we met a typical guard on the West Berlin side. Major Major Madole was engaged in a sad conversation with some man, Peter Jensen, I believe his name was, about Mr. Jensen's pretty girl friend, Dottie Von Bechtel, who had been trapped behind the Wall in East Berlin. It was quite tragic. We left, believing the stories which once seemed incredible. Soon we found ourselves in Switzerland. The famous Swiss Bank was our first stop and here we met the President of the Bank, James Archibald, and had a fine talk with him. We asked him how we could find the famous watch and clock factory. He told us how to get there, and following his intricate directions we walked out of the door of the Bank, across the street, and into the watch factory. Here we found two specialists working hard at their precision job. I believe their names were Shirley Frederick and Jerry Wright—yes--that sounds right. On to the Alps. Through majestic towers of snow-covered rock we could hear a girl named Carolyn Reinbold yodeling miles away. The echo and voice set the traditional atmosphere as did world-famous lady skier, Teresa Little, slaloming down the mountain with a companion— but wait. She fell! Rushing into his brave rescue action, his job in the mountains, was Kenny Strohl, accompanied by his faithful St. Bernard. Minutes later he was at her side, setting a minor leg fracture. The excitement over, we set out for Italy. The famous Diana Boots Shop was a major stop on our short trip through this country. In this store, a salesman named Alan Thoderoni sold each of us a pair of Italian boots. A famous thug named Craig Webb (alias Spider-alias Jack) tried to steal our boots; but Italian detective, Linda Rahnitta, captured him and hauled him off to jail. We decided we had better go somewhere where there was no crime, so for our own safety, we took off for England. We were met at the airport by a Scotland Yard detective and his assistants. Jaylock Holmes and Dr. Brenda Watson, were investigating the theft of the Scotland Yard security list, and they asked us if we knew anything about it. We said No! Holmes rubbed his chin, took a look at the clock with his magnifying glass, and deduced that that famous agent of crime, James Glenn, and his shady accomplice, Carol Chaplin, were the Villains. We visited Bishop Richard III of Canterbury and Richard Grimm, author of a new set of fairy tales, which he had spent his life collecting. Next we headed for the exotic Orient by plane. In Italy, however, we crashed in a field. After firing our pilot we found a shepherd named Darrell Lamb and asked him to send for a mechanic. This he did. Lee Williamson checked over our plane and said it was a total wreck. We chartered another plane from Clarence T. W. A. Conner and soon found ourselves in India. We were still enroute to China, but were in India before our new pilot ’’found his bearings. While he looked for them, we decided to look around India. We had only enough time to see the famous and rich Craig Sheik Sanderson. While there, Mr. Forrester and I got a look at his harem. Jeanette Lindsay, Judy Hanners, and Joyce Newlin were among the beauties. Oh, yes, I overlooked” Beth Townsend. She also was in the group. We were notified that our pilot had found his bearings and we were soon in China. We wanted to go to a fine restaurant where it would be possible to eat good old American meals. While looking for such a place, we passed a famous Chinese laundry, Froman's Launderette, owned and operated by Judy Froman. Finally, we found just the kind of place we were looking for, Mina's Cafe. Here you could order any type of food. Ask a man named Bob Thomas. He was sitting alone in the corner of a booth calmly sipping chop sticks. We ate our fill, and rushed back to the plane. The Orient was nice, but time was growing short. Our next stop was Australia. Since we ran out of gas; our pilot landed us on a kangaroo plantation owned by Brenda and Dennis Stewart. They fed us a dinner of kangaroo meat. It was hopping good. Then we were shown around the place by Charles Thompson, a self-made expert on the animal. He also told us that there was a tennis match going on in nearby Sidney between Australian champ, Dorinda Knapp and challenger, Karen Ochs. When our pilot had filled the plane with gas, he notified us and we were forced to leave the match while it was tied. We flew to Africa, the place where Dr. Jenks was to be a missionary. We met a trader from America who was well acquainted with the chief of the Ubangi tribes in that part of the country. The trader's name was Dick Cromwell--the Ubangi chief's, Roger Carlz, a curiously non-native name. We saw how the people lived and Dr. Jenks decided to stay and wait for the priests—soon to arrive. We started across the ocean in our little plane and after several hours we landed, unfortunately in Spain. Again our pilot had lost his bearings; possibly, as noted, his marbles also were gone. We fired him and went to a bull fight. Roger Foley, a famous matador, was in the ring as we arrived. He had just caught the traditional rose, tossed by a girl named Mary Ingrum. Then came the bull. With skill and magnificent footwook, he tired the bull until it was easily killed. For his great and victorious battle, he won a kiss from another lovely girl, Betty Fults. On our way back to the plane, we saw Jacki McCollam weaving famous Spanish blankets. As we passed by, a tourist, Gary Kappes, brought one of the colorful blankets. Mr. Forrester decided he could fly our plane to the U.S. without losing his bearings. This he did. Somehow, however, we landed on the West Coast, a feat unbelievably impossible by going west from Spain. We were met at the terminal and our luggage was checked by Wilford Roulston, Wayne Hardwick, and Sandra Teak. Then we flew to Las Vegas. At the famous Jeanine Houser Casino we saw Sonya Lu Reece make her first million dollars. She was going to go to Texas to buy a ranch. We dined at the swinging Brownies Expresso Shop, owned and operated by Francis Browning. Linda Stabler and Bradley Jones had the floor show well in hand with their folk music. Suddenly we realized that our vacation was over. We flew to New York and said farewell to each other at the air terminal. Mr. Forrester took the plane on to Baltimore and Miss Ochs rode back to the city with an escort. I took a taxi home. Just today, though, I read something very interesting in my own paper. Coach Forrester was indicted in an Italian court for the theft of a plane chartered from a city there.. .and was sentenced to ten years in prison in that country.
