Class History In September of 1957, we entered high school as green little Freshmen. There were eighty of us. For our Leaders we chose Doug Green, President; Kitty Kish, Vice-President; Jeri Little, Secretary; Juanita Hausmann, Treasurer; and Bill Kleiss, Student Council Representative. Our advisors were Miss Cruise and Mr. Brehm. In December we moved into our new high school--that was a glorious day! As Sophomores, our number had increased to eighty-five. That year we chose as our leaders: Carolyn Ross, President; Pat Consoer, Vice-President; Juanita Hausmann, Secretary; Jim Huser, Treasurer; and Carl Kohrt, Student Council Representative. That year our Homecoming float won first place; the theme, Bee-line to Victory. Our advisors that year were Miss Cruise and Mr. Meyer. During that year we sold stationery as a money-making project. As Juniors, there were only seventy-five of us. Our officers were Doug Green, President; Pat Consoer, Vice-President; Kitty Kish, Secretary; Jeri Little, Treasurer; and Bill Alexander, Student Council Representative. Using the Sphinx as our theme for our Homecoming float with the slogan, We Spinx We'll Win, we won second place. That year we sold magazines in preparation for the Junior-Senior Prom. The Junior-Class Play, The More the Merrier, was a big success. On April 30, we gave the Junior-Senior Prom. The theme was Sea Fantasy and it was a lovely affair. Our advisors were Miss Schrader, Mrs. Kennedy, and Mr. Meyer. Our Senior year was the one for which we had all waited expectantly. We chose new officers who were: Denny Hackett, President; Pat Consoer, Vice-President; Juanita Hausmann, Secretary; Kathleen Boy Ison, Treasurer; and Kitty Kish, Student Council Representative. Our advisors for the year were Mr. Meyer, Mrs. Kennedy, and Mrs. Whelage. There were now sixty-four of us. Our Homecoming king and queen were Rex Bridges and Kathleen Boylson, and our last Homecoming was made very memorable by a victory over Unity. Our football boys did very well and went on to tie for first place in the Okaw Valley Conference. The next few months we were very busy working on our Yearbook under the guidance of Miss Magnusson and Miss Sluss. Our very capable co-editors were Carolyn and Marolyn Corrie and Jane Harris. We also had our Senior pictures taken and prepared for graduation by selecting our Commencement announcements and name cards. After Christmas vacation and our semester exams, we settled ourselves to waiting for the Junior-Senior Prom, Senior Skip Day, our class play. Baccalaureate, and finally the graduation ceremony for which we had waited four years. We shall always remember our wonderful years at T.C.H.S. With our classmates and the many faculty members who helped us prepare for a better future. SENIOR CLASS LATIN-SPANISH CLUB SOPHOMORE CLASS Third Place LIBRARY CLUB FRESHMAN CLASS Variety Show I'll kill you with these bare hands. She might be having a good time where she is now. But I doubt it. Dress Rehearsal I'd like to get.. .real close to him sometime. Directed by Wilma Allen BULL IN A CHINA SHOP Class Prophecy The whole episode began one dreary day as I was browsing around in a dusty old curio shop. I was just about to leave when my eye was caught by a peculiar object sitting on a pile of junk. It was a small ebony statue with three tiny drawers in its abdomen. There was a fascination in its enormous, staring eyes that compelled me to buy it. A few days later as I sat reading. I heard a high pitched hum which seemed to be coming from Charlie--for that is what I had christened him. I crossed the room and tried to open the drawers. Irritated at not succeeding, I decided more drastic means were in order. I picked up a hammer and swung it as hard as I could. The hammer, guided by some unseen force, hit my thumb instead. I suppressed my desire to yell nasty things about Charlie’s parents and threw him very hard against the wall instead. The hum ceased. Charlie's middle drawer was open! A rush of air flew past me and an unseen voice murmured, It was jolly good of you to release me, old chap. Let me introduce myself. I am Empar, Spirit of Emir, the God of Mischief. I was enclosed in that box three thousand years ago for a trick I played on Emir--he had a very nasty temper. Since you have had the kindness to release me, I am your servant. What do you wish of me? At first I could think of nothing to have him do. Then I happened to glance down at some old books I had been sorting through and noticed my high school annual. All right, I said. Tell me what all my old classmates are doing now. Ah, simplicity itself, replied the sibilant voice. First of all, there is Bill Alexander D.D.S. He has gained great fame for his magnificent musical compositions on the airdrill. Lloyd Anderson is also a dentist. He makes dentures for dogs in his office across the hall. Doug Green and dill Kleiss have taken over CHECKMATE. INC. Ah. fellows after my own heart! They accept only beautiful women clients, 25 years old or under. Rex Bridges and Dave Reed have changed their names to Jacques and Pierre and are the world’s most famous and expensive hairdressers. Their salon is in the Fontainbleau Hotel in Miami, which is now owned by Norma Chapman and Dee Watson. Two other of your former classmates. Bob Redmon and Maynard Kappes are bellboys there. Ralph Briggs and Gary Brinkley are the leaders of the newest, craziest group on the scene called the Bang-niks. Pat Consoer. Judy Dickey. Barbara Van Zant and Ruth Ann Lecher formed the first group of women astronauts and successfully landed on Mars. Rev. Bob Wilson accompanied them and founded a missionary school there for the Martians. Several former TCHS'ers have found success in show business. You remember Bob Felix? Well, he has taken over Charley Weaver's Letters from Mama and has his own television show. Roy Chaplin is a famous movie star. Friday Knight. He is currently starring in Omelet with Tuesday Weld. Dan Lee and Dave Lane are the very popular leaders of a rock 'n' roll combo. You Can Throw Me in Jail for Failin’ in Love, But You’ll Never Keep My Face From Breakin’ Out is the title of their biggest hit. John Tice, ever the shutterbug. is now a photographer for Playboy magazine. I say. you wouldn't by any chance have some pepper on you? the voice inquired. Quite absorbed with the story Empar had been telling me. I absent-mindedly took a can of pepper from the shelf. It was immediately snatched from my hand and violently inverted overhead. The pepper disappeared instantaneously into a vacuum sound before it could fall on me--all but a few stray grains, that is! In between sneezes I heard the voice continue. Kay Donley and Raymond Kingery have taken over the Arthur Murray Dance Studios, and Dan Gore is the head chef at the 42 Club which is twice as good as the Club 21. Railroad detective Denny Hackett arrested Carl Kohrt recently for leading a gang of bums who were riding the rails. The case will be tried by Steve Rahn. although Steve usually tries only traffic violations. Jim Fortney has just opened up a new pin factory across the street from Terry Heckler’s Voo Doo Doll factory. Several others are also in business for themselves. Bill Wolverton manufactures down-buttons for elevator shoes. Dennis Manner and Ronnie Rankins make revival tents. Gary and Wendell Rahn invented Rahn and Rahn Runless Mascara. Bud Kappes has used his imagination, too. He designs burial vaults. Juanita Hausmann puts the holes in All-Stars with her ticket puncher at the same cereal plant where Kay Townsend and Judi Thornton sort out burnt Rice Krispies on the production line. Sandy Manwaring. with the help of a little hair dye. has joined the Redheads basketball team, while archaeologist Sharon Kinney has finally returned from Egypt where she was in search of her long lost mummy.
