Charles K. .Velsh To the Class of 1949, Just one hundred years ago there was a great migration to California, Gold had been discovered at Sutter’s Mill and the adventurous were on their way to seek their fortune. It is very unlikely that there will be another gold rush in 1949, and yet you are on your way even asvere those hardy people of a hundred years ago. Your opportunities are unlimited. The best music has yet to be composed; the best book has yet to be written; television offers countless oppor- tunities; we have not yet scratched the surface in the field of atomic energy. May you be successful in your chosen field of endeavor and may you use this traditionally fine yearbook in the years to come to refresh your memory of your faculty and schoolmates who may have helped you to success.
