CLASS HISTORY The Seniors who have attended good old Turpin through twelve long, hard, strenuous,brain racking years are Bessie Casady, LaVetra Evans, Walter Huebner, Felix Huebner, and Doyle Whitmer Neva Jean Zielke, Marilyn Rodgers, and Eugene Regier started to school at Turpin at the beginning of the second grade In the spring of l9'+'7, Mrs Susie Burris coached our play NHey Teachern There were eleven students that graduated from the eight grade In the fall of 1947, there were twelve students who enrolled in T H S They were LaVetra Evans, Marilyn Rodgers, Bessie Casady, Neva Jean Zielke, Walter Huebner Eugene Regier, Felix Huebner Owen Young, L G Polf, Bil Ediger, Arlis Hiebert and Doy e Whitmer We were sponsored our first year in high school by both Mrs Bertha Hill and Mrs Selma Witzke In our Sophomore year Marie Dobbs joined our class, but had to leave us before the year was over Also, Owen Young moved to Colorado and Eugene Regier left, too Our sponsor this year was Mrs Paul Finch In our Junior year we had the same students as the year coached our play, Damsels in Distressn This was the first experience of acting for some of the class At our Junior Senior Banquet we carried out the theme of the STORK CLUB We began our Senior year with 14 students They were Neva Jean Zielke, La Vetra Evans, Bessie Casady, Marilyn Rodgers, Arlis Hiebert, Doyle Whitmer, Bill Ediger, Walter Huebner, Felix Huebner, L G Polf, Jim Shobert Clayton Nichols, Eugene Regier, and Darrel Warren We elected Mr Moore as our sponsor Eugene came back to Turpin after attending O B A at Meno,Oklahoma his sophomore and junior years Jim hails from Nevada, Clayton from Colorado, and Darrel came from Kansas Marilyn left Turpin after the first six weeks because of her marriage Clayton and L G enlisted in the Navy Darrel went to Borger, Texas There are only ten of us to finish our Senior year One of our most important activities this year was the senior play,nThe Campbells Are Comingn, and also the success of the basketball teams on which we had five members,LaVetra Evans, Bessie Casadf, Arlis Hiebert, Eugene Reg1er,and Jim Shobert. We all feel that our time has been well spent and we owe much to our teachers, parents, and friends who have helped prepare us for the biggest school of all The School of Life We are sure we will look back and say that our school days were the happiests days of our life before.
