Guidance Mr. Dana Haskell Prouty Fitchburg State College, M. Ed. Guidance Tucked away in a small cubicle on the first floor, is the TFHS Guidance Office. Mr. Dana Prouty and Mrs. Rosemary Maddern, counsel- ors, agree that this department, although small in size, was the center of hectic activity with students hunting down career information, awaiting the latest test results, or desperately trying to meet application deadlines. To help the students decide their future plans, the Guidance Department has installed new equip- ment which includes the Viewdeck and Occu- pational Information Tapes. They also spon- sored the Occupational Information Sessions in the afternoon. Another essential part of TFHS is the Caf- eteria Staff. Mrs. Marion Britton fed the hungry students with the assistance of Mrs. Lorraine Cadran, Mrs. Ernestine Charron, Mrs. Helen Verrier and Mrs. Antoinette Aitken. Each day they prepared approximately 400 hot lunches which provided an enjoyable improvement compared to the bag lunches. Mr. Otto F. Janda, known as Otto”, worked each day to keep TFHS clean. Among the usual and varied jobs were, cleaning the floors, replacing burnt out lights, and opening stubborn lockers for distraught students. Yet another important area of the school is the library. This past year TFHS welcomed a new librarian, Mr. Charles Hoyt. Each year the library strives to meet the growing demands of the student body. The library served as a study hall for students electing intensive study or who had research to do among the library’s expand- ing facilities. Mr. William A. Cook Springfield College, B.S.; Columbia University, Mas- ter of Arts Superintendent of Schools Administration Principal Ray Franklin and Superintendent William Cook continued to strive for many new improvements in the educa- tional system this past year. At the same time, they have been constantly adding to and updating the curriculum. All these forward moves in education have been planned to fit into the proposed Gill-Montague Region al school towards which this administration has long been working. Mr. James Humphrey, Administrative Assistant, was once again aiding Mr. Cook in all his endeavors. This yeai there was also a new addition to the administration. Mr. Eu gene Seaver filled the newly developed post of Assistant Prin- cipal. He ably assisted Mr. Franklin, especially in the areas of discipline and student activities. Both in French II and Latin I new textbooks were introduced, which gave the students a new approach to speaking and un- derstanding the language. Eventu- ally the books will be uniform throughout the classes. In all three languages; French, Spanish and Lat- in, the civilization of the peoples was stressed.
