J' '4 s10:e:x recap the years past, maybe or give some thought to what is coming up Mr. Amie Voth has been a teacher for thirty-one years, twenty-eight of those years were spent here at Turner. He has taught several courses, such as, General Science, Biology, Physics, Chemis- try, and Aeronautics. When asked how he felt about Turner, he said, I feel as ifl have 'grown up' with Turner High School. I have seen this school grow from an enrollment of less than three-hundred to over one-thousand, one-hundred students. Our graduates have found their place in society in many diverse occupations. We have a school with great potential, offering a real challenge to our youth. I have enjoyed my years of teaching here, with its many rewarding ex- periences. There also have been some disappointments. With mixed emotions I leave Turner High School and a profession which has meant so much to me. , . Mr. R'Leigh Bell is one of our Driver Education instructors here at Turner. He has also taught Industrial Arts, Wood Working, and General Shop, Mechanical Drawing, Girls Household Mechanics, Math, Science, and has taught at two elementary schools. He says he thinks the most rewarding thing about teaching is when he meets a former student and he or she remembers specific things about what they have learned in his class. He also says, There are many things about Tumer High School of which I shall always remember and be proud, but mostly it will be the students with whom I've been as- sociated. I am glad to have been a teacher in this school and I wish all the Turner High School students the VERY BEST in the years ahead. 7 class of 72 wishes those who leave with them the best of luck. Miss Nancy Marshall has been teaching for a total of forty- four years. Twenty-eight of those years were spent here at Turner. Looking back, the things she remembers most are her twenty years running around with the pep club, the spirit weeks at Turner, and an allnight bus ride to Salina with the championship basketball team. She has taught such courses as, Math, Office Practice, Typing, Shorthand, Bookkeeping, Business Law, Biology, Physics, Hygiene, and Vocations. I have been associated with many fine young people. They have kept me young at heart. Many of my students have brought joy to me as they have gone out in the world to be- come a real asset to their community. My supervisors and co-work- ers have been outstanding and I thank them for helping me have a happy twenty-eight years at Turner. 7 Miss Keitha Peterson is our librarian here at Turner. Forty- four years of her life have been spent teaching, in which forty-two of those years were spent here. She has taught, Home Economics, Biology, and of course her librarians position. Her most memorable experience, she said, was when she tried to teach a class of Home Economics to boys. She said it was really frustrating to try to teach a group of football players some of the rules of etiquette, but in the end it was worth it. Miss Peterson said, One cannot teach in a school system as long as I have without developing strong attach- ments, so although I am eagerly looking forwared to retirement there is also an element of regret in leaving. The years have been en- joyable and enriching and the students of Turner High School are the 'greatest'. I'll look forward to reading fine reports of Turner High School in the future. administration leads the Way nmmvwmmmmn ,E l Seated left to right are Superintendent Wallace Smith, Assistant Superintendent Carl Hendon, and School Board members Mrs. Ruth Eldridge, Mrs. Eloise Siler, Mr. Dudley Potter, Mr. James Stirling, Mr. Fred Rosenau, Mrs. Agnes Spence, and Mr. Jack Haden .1---...min-un Mr. Wilkins and Mr. Bolin Are Busy Serving the Students . Q I'll remember the peopleg the friends I had and all the time I spent with them. -Rita Little seniors I guess I'll always remember the school lunches. And, just the good times I had. Patty Milam The things I'll always remember best about old THS are the people who inhabited that brick building along with me during my 3-year duration-and the lessons they taught me: more specifically, the coaches who taught me competive- ness and disappointment, the teachers fthose few who really caredj who educated me, the dozen or so dedicated Stu-co members who worked for a cause I believed in, the cast of GUYS AND DOLLS who showed me so much kindness, the B Bunch and other female friends and the handful of guys I hung around with fespecially the couple who are always there-even nowj who taught me to be myself and if people don't like me then I don't need their friendship, and finally, Sister Flo and Mrs. Hansen who taught me beauty. I thank you. -Steve Allison I'll remember all the fun I had in biology class, disecting those frogs. -Charlotte Gann I'll remember the people, m I'll remember the friendliness of teachers and students, they were so easy to get along with. I was active in activities. -Jan Hart I'1l remember the crummy lunches and the boring home- l'OOI'I1S . -Sherry Williams y very good friends. -Marlys Bell remember I'll remember that stupid parking lot. The things that I'll remember most about THSQ first of all, I'1l remember my real friends. I'1l always remember the plays I became a part of and how I learned and shared with the people in them. And last, but certainly not least, that handful of dedicated teachers fthey shall remain nameless because they know who they arej who taught me that beauty still exists. -Ronda Crabaugh -Glen Spence I think I'll remember all the great times I had with all my old friends and the wonderful experiences I had with all the new and dear friends I made here. -Denise J aimes The musical this year was different from MY FAIR LADY. The songs were neater and I had a lot of duets with SKY . I liked the one with Patty called Marry The Man I remember discovering gold in people I thought I disliked, sawdust in some I thought I loved. I remember having very dear friends who happened to be teachers. I remember those whose lives have touched mine, and those whose lives I may have touched. I remember how much it hurt to say good-bye. I remember all this today, perhaps I'll recall some of it tomorrow. -Lola Droullard Today. This display gives the students at Turner High School a chance to display their work and talents to the public. Among the depart- ments involved in this display are: Arts, Foods, Homeliving, Cloth- ing, Printing, Power Mechanics, Wood Working, and Metal Shop. They sat up booths or tables to display such things as exotic foods, wood projects, a car engine, art work, house planning, and projects related to family activities. The highlight of the evening was a fash- ion show and door prizes were also given away. It proved to be a delightful evening in which many people went away realizing the great ability of Tumer High School Students. wiv ' ' Yilulinivvf' ' Q 5 fx - xi? ,ml .1 fl MN nhl A Q .4- 1? : W 'nn' Z ff M class of '73 honors class of '72 The Junior-Senior Prom took place among an atmosphere of Shangri-la. Those were the years that we tried. Long, long time ago We can still remember how that ol' name used to make us smile And we know if we had our chance That we could make ourselves advance And maybe we'd be happy for awhile. But those classes made us shiver With every grade that they'd deliver When we got there we slept We can't remember if we cried The day we lost our Senior Pride But something touched us deep inside The day we said goodbye. Bye, bye good ol' Turner High Tried to say it, but delayed it Now we say it with pride That when we leave, we're gonna say it in stride Singing, those were the years that we tried.
