G.A.A. Girls, Volleyball Team Takes First at K.U. G.A.A. encourages girls to take an active part in sports and to develop good sportsmanship. This year's officers were: Annie Moore, presidentg Cathy Webb, vice-president, Nancy Crowder, secretary-treasurer, and Joy Littlefield, point secretary. Bowling intramurals were held on Wednesdays with basketball, volleyball, badminton and gymnastics rounding out the intramural program on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Participation points were given were to girls staying for intramurals. After 200 points were acquired a girl was eligible to try out for G.A.A. Seven skill tests were set up by members of G.A.A. Six out of 7 of these tests must have been passed before becoming a member of G.A.A. The girls, volleyball team, chosen at the beginning of the year, practiced four nights a week and competed in 8 sports- days during the year. Team members this year were: Annie Moore, captain, Cathy Webb, Jetty Leach, Deb Ferbezar, Skeeter Wood, Cheryl Hutton, Linda Kresyman, Vicki Mc- Clintic, and Susie Kelly. The practices after school and the coaching by Mrs. Saul, sponsor, helped this year's team bring back a trophy from every sportsday they attended. They placed first at a sportsday held at Kansas University in Lawrence and also received a first place trophy at a sports- day held here at Turner. Mrs. Saul, Girl's Physical Education teacher, spends four nights out of the week sponsoring intramurals for girls and coaching the girls' volleyball team. G.A.A. members for 1968-69.
