OPHO ORE FOOTBALL This yearis sophomore football team, coached by Mr. Hubert Waugh, ended their ,68 season with a 5-2 record. Their only two losses were against Olathe and Shawnee Mission South. Teams which the sophs defeated were Shaw- nee Mission North, Washington, Wyandott, Argentine, and Sumner. Two outstanding sophomores who led the team to such a fine record were Mike Pettey and Steve Crabaugh. Pettey led the team in all offensive areas and Crabaugh led the defense with the most tackles. Many of this year's team members will be playingjunior varsity football and some varsity next year. Mr. Waugh, sophomore football coach. FOOTB LL The Junior Varsity football team, coached by Dean Borchardt, ended their '68 football season with an overall record of 4 wins and 4 losses. Their wins were over Miege. Sumner, Bonner. and Olathe. They were defeated by Shaw- nee Mission North, Shawnee Mission West. Ottawa. and Rosedale. Junior Varsity lettermen for the l968 season were: Bob Allison, Jim Barclay, Steve Benton, Staev Crabaugh, Hal Eden, Bill Edwards, Bob Fain, Don Fitch, Charles Herring, Greg Bell. Nelson Onstott, Troy Peck, Ron Purinton, Steve Rice, Don Smith, Glenn Swisher, Jack Twibell, and Bell Wilson. 66 R. LEGS Steve Howard Voted alVIr. Legs The Mr. Legs contest was sponsored by the varsity cheer- leaders to raise money for new uniforms. The five nominated candidates were: Steve Howard, nominated by varsity cheerleadersg Mike Pettey, junior var- sity cheerleadersg Steve Cook, seniorsg Terry Payne,juniorsg and Steve Craubaugh, sophomores, The student body voted on their choice for a penny a vote. They were allowed to vote as often as they wished. The winner was announced at a special assemblyg Cathy Webb, head varsity cheerleader, presented Steve Howard with a model leg and he was then wheeled around the gym in a decorated wagon on a victory ride. The winning legs of Steve Howard are voted by the stu dents as the best looking legs of any boy at Turner. The Mr Legsw assembly is fun for all as the contestants are wheeled in on wagons and the winner presented a plaster of paris model of a leg.
