On important days such as Homecoming or a special bas- ketball game, the letter girls and cheerleaders, entertain the student body with a skit to fit the occasion. The assemblies proved to be a great asset as the Bears Went on to be Co-Champs in football and fourth in State Basketball at the tournament in Wichita, Kansas. Mr. Hamilton directs the pep band, made up of select band members, at one of the many pep assemblies. Bob Houp, senior, plays at one of the pep assemblies held to boost thc spirit ofthe students and faculty. FOOTBALL The Turner Golden Bears, coached by Bruce Bowman, finished their 1968 football season sharing the E. K. L. crown with Bonner High School. Each team finished with a 4-1 record in E. K. L. standings. The Argentine Mustangs handed the Bears their only loss in E. K. L. competition. Outstanding performances came from numerous mem- bers ofthe team. Alan Swarts was selected as a defensive back on the all E. K. L. team and an offensive back on the All-Area Team. Other members of Turner's team who were chosen for the All E. K. L. team were: Rod Guy, lineback- erg Robert Feaster, centerg and Tom Spradling, offensive end. Although half of the starting team were seniors and won't be returning next year, Coach Bowman has great po- tential injuniors such as Tom Owen, who started as quar- terback this season, Jim Wicinski, flankerg and Sam Fry, who averaged 41 yards a punt. These juniors will plan an important part in the forming of next yearis E. K. L. champs. Bruce Bowman, Head Coach Fighting Bears Never Quit!
