PRESS BALL Scene of the Presentation of 1965 T.H.S. Royalty Hawaiian Paradise was the theme of the l965 Press Ball sponsored by the Journalism Dept. This dance emphasized the presentation of the Turnite Royalty. The decorations for the evening were palm trees, pineapples, murals depicting the Hawaiian atomosphere, an active volcano, and a thatched hut which provided refreshments. The throne, located at the far end of the gymnasium, was decoratively prepared for the Royalt . White wrought iron chairs were high- lightecllwith the ancestrial Hawaiian mask in the background, Perpendicular to the throne were two palm trees forming an arch that outlined the path for the Royal Promenade. Miss T.H.S., Linda Easter and Mr. T.H.S., Larry Fagan danced to the music of The Shadow- men at the annual Press Ball, Press Ball Royalty, left to right: Don Gentry Michele Bette Cox Armon Jones D C k Mk ' Schroeppel, Bob Howard, Connie LaPoint, Terry Cierkovich J d' G ' od ,d mm? Sandy Smith was enslaved to Larry Bunce as part of the crowning ceremonies of the king and queen of the Twirp Dance. TWIRP DANCE Proved to be Memorable With Chain Crowning This year the Student Council sponsored a dance to end Tvvirp Week. It was held on March 19, with an Egyptian theme. The stu- dents dressed in school attire were surrounded by mummies, camels, and pyramids for an ef- fective setting. Slave tickets were sold for 1C to the girls during Twirp Week. Whenever a girl would do a deed for a boy, she and the boy would sign the ticket and would Write down what it was that the girl did for the boy. Whichever girl had acquired the most tickets during that Week, she was crowned the Twirp Queen. Sandy Smith was crowned Twirp Queen, choosing Larry Bunce as her King. The tvvo were chained together with a paper chain as a symbol of their life together forever. Dancing along side Larry and Sandy at the Twirp Dance were Linda Jenkins and Steve Hannag looking on'is Donna Cook.
