For the past three years, the American Field Service has selected a student from a foreign country to attend school at Turner and share the differences of their culture with the students here. This year, Sri Sumestri, better known as Mestri to the Turner students, from Sourabaya, Indonesia, occupied this position. She lived with Mr, and Mrs. Ed Alvey, 1846 South 49th Street. Their three daughters, Carol, senior, Linda, jun- ior, and Janet, a 1961 graduate of Turner, were Mestri's American sisters. Mestri's subjects at Turner included: American history, American government, senior math, and speech. She was also active in Pep Club, and the bowling league.
