Learning Languages Link Lands ,J n M., A 1 I came, -I saw, I conquered. These are familiar words to Mrs. Grey's Latin II students. Today more than ever the people ofthe world need to be able to communicate and understand each other. It is almost essential that students in school today learn as much foreign language as possible. The world of tomorrow is going to be a closely-linked community and tomorrow's leaders must be able to work closely together to preserve a world of peace. Turner offers two foreign languages in its curriculum: Latin, the basis of English language, and French, one of the prominent languages spoken in the world. The language department at Turner is continually growing as a new French teacher was added to the faculty this year. Students are encouraged to broaden their knowledge by taking advan- tage of the opportunity to learn about other people of the world by studying their lan- guage. 1 LUCY GREY A.B. The music Two hundred and fifty voices ring out in Handel's Messiah. department has ended another busy and prosperous year at Turner. Accent on Art Accomplishments LOIS LEONARD Art A picture is worth a thousand words. According to students enrolled in art classes at Turner this old Chinese proverb is certainly true. As art class enables the really creative student to display his ability in the way he knows best. The artist sees many aspects of life that others do not. Just as a poet expresses hisfeelings about life through words, the artist does this through pictures. An art class teaches a student to look for real meanings in everyday life and to express his ideas easily to others.
