PrincipaI's essage We have the knowledge, tools and resources to make our- selves and our world what we think it should be. We have perhaps the greatest chance ever offered to mankind to win freedom and creative peace. Does the universe in which we live have any real purpose, and is it moving toward some constructive goal? ls man a small creature made of water and not-so-pure carbon staggering about a little planet or is he a demigod capable of traveling the space ways and improving his own nature? We do not have complete answers--but these questions deserve our continued study. Life need not be ignoble and timidp it can be truly great and wise. It is not three dimensional things that make us happy or sad, that produce good or evilg it is ideas that most strongly affect us Education and religion are the keys to a new and better world. We need to study and pray in order that we can visualize what that better world should be. John H. Pitman

Exchange Students Japan, Denmark, Finland, and Turlock are quickly be- coming better acquainted through the friendship of our for- eign exchange students, Harumi Fuiino and Neils Neilson. This similar feeling has been extended and returned by the visit of our local summer exchangee, Jerry Wing, to Hel- sinki, Finland. Neils is the second American Field Service student to attend Turlock High School and comes from Copenhagen, Denmark. His warm smile and gentle manner contribute to his pleasant personality. Harumi attended Turlock High School last year and was very fortunate to be able to continue studying here in order' to graduate from our school. Harumi 's cheerful atmosphere is a true sign of her wonderful friendship. Jerry is one of our own students and most know him as a congenial, hard-working Student Body Vice-President. Jerry's easy-going attitude demonstrates his ability to dip- lomize situations and promote friendliness to all.
