Senior Girl Scouts . Highlighting their activities with a weelvend trip to Pine' crest, the Senior Girl Scouts have heen very industrious dur' ing the year. Projects of the year includf ed a rummage sale, and selling of Christmas cards. League . ln order to further the friendship ot' mothers and teach' ers, the Girls League presented a Mothers Tea which was held in the auditorium in early spring. lvlemhers were husy he' fore Christmas vacation decoratf ing a Christmas tree in the front hall, The organization also sponsored drives for the Nlarcli of Dimes, Tuherculosis and the Red Cross. Junior Statesmen . The junior Statesmen is an organization of High School stuf dents interested in politics and government. Its aim is to meet and study important problems and topics of current interest. Topics such as Conscription, Racial Problems , The Eighf teen Year Cld Vote , and Russia were discussed at the regular meetings of the chapter held at the homes of various members the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. The Turlock Chapter was host to the Regional Convenf Dick Harrity, George Bill, lewel Meyer, Bill Boothe, lim Schaller, Orley Anderson, Sigurcl Ross, Iackie Smith, Carol Maybee, Loyce lohnson, Charlotte Finley, Thelma Hardesty, Delores Crouch, Vernon Petersen, Mr. Fred Flint, Beverly Knutsen, Lorraine Garcia, Marge Gaster, Virginia Iones, Diane lessen, Nellae Powell, Marilyn Hallmark, Betty Anderson, Naomi Weiss, Phyllis Fiorini, Eleanor Anderson, Ieanette Murray, Hilary Cook, Dale Ocken,, Marshall Berg, Don Smith, Wes Wallstrom, lim Iessup, Raymond Meza. tion held Fehruary 28 to March 1. Seventyy delegates of the Junior Statesmen from eight of the twelve chapters in the areas from Ripon to Bakersfield were present. Those represented were Bakersfield College, East Bakersfield, Fresno, Hughson, Ripon, Sanger, Visalia, and Turlock. Jewel Meyer served as chairman of the convention, and Don Smith was toastmaster for the banquet. At the convention Jewell Meyer was elected comptroller, Diane .lessen was elected associate editor of THE STATESMAN, the Junior Statesmen newspaper. Fred W. Flint was elected one of the teacher sponsors for the San Joaquin Region. Delegates to the convention in San Mateo were Jewell Meyer, Wes Wallstroiii and Hilary Cook. Don Smith was delegate to San jose. Those attending the State Legislative session at Asilomar were Hilary Cook, and Jewell Meyer. Other junior Statesmen attending were Phyllis Fiorini, Diane Jessen, Ernestine Newton and Naomi Weiss. Advisor of the group was Mr. Fred XV. Flint. Library Club . Under the leadership of Lupe Meza, the Library Club has been suceessfull in furthf cring the reading interest of many of the girls by giving book reviews and magazine articles at noon in the Li' brary. Since the elub was orf ganized with a minimum of responsibility for members, Mrs. Esther Sward, advisor, gave the programs. Flaun Miller, Martha larnes, Rosella Hersey, Gladys White, Leclia Vierra, Adeline Linhares, Anabelle Be-ttencourt, Avis Dwyer, Rosie Asdurian, Mrs, Esther Sward, Marjorie Smith, lune Hensley, Lupe Me-za, Ascension Rojas, Evah Mae Santos, Pai Bache, Evelyn Asp, Betty Mr. Pitman, Don Smith, Eldon Erickson, Darwin Maxon, Austin Cowan, Mr. Flint. Kneeling: Frank Switzer, Hilary Cook, Iohn Hardin. Boys' Federation This year the Boys' Fed' :ration have successfully pref sented many programs and activities. Refreshments were sold at several games, and the boys cooperated with the girls in the Tuberculosis Drive. Several sports pie' tures were shown during the year, and the traditional Varsity vs Faculty basket' ball game was played. The following boys held office during the year: Hilf ary Cook, president: Darwin Maxon, vice presidentg and Don Smith, secretaryftreasf urer. Advisors to the group were Mr. john Pitman and Mr. Fred Flint.
