' 3 'I fs? C. F. Perrott Principal DX , gig wow I Message to the Graduates . . Robert Louis Stevenson once said, I am bigger than anything that can happen to me. We are now in the throes of a gigantic world struggle such as has never occured before. lt is easy to fall into ways of despair when we note how cheap human life is. Mechanical genius has been harnessed with the 'tGod of War and the carnage is terrible to behold. However, it is a case of survival. We have chosen to remain free. lf we did not fight, it certainly would mean the end of all for which our forefathers fought so nobly. The price we will pay will be stupendous but there is no other choice. As you leave our halls, remember that you belong to a huge family of graduates who have received their training here. The family is only as strong as its weakest member. Your re- cord and contribution to civilization will reflect on your school. We also know that our school is reflected in you. No one person is wise enough to dictate the terms of peace which will come at the end of the war. Hatred must not rule. lt must be a people's peace. Safeguards against dictators must be built because they are the ones who provoke war. The human spirit, the will Io live, is stronger than all this mad destruction. We will keep our balance, our faith in find and in ourselves. Uut of this war will come a need for rebuild- ing shattered material power, courage to reconstruct our spiritual forces.
