Trustees The school has been Very prosperous this year, if prosperity is to be measured hy the action ol' the Trustees in their bettering the con- gf' ditions of the institution. Li, . . . . , . . Q-Kala The main thing.: accomplished was the completion ot the audi- ff., torium which is said to he rated among' the best in San Joaquin Valley. lt has a seating' capacity' of one thousand three hundred and twenty. The acoustics of the building' are excellent and the lip,'liting . . . V -ffl fixtures and curtains are admired hy everyone. ,ba An administration huildin,e', which will complete the main unit, is-umler construction at the present time. lt will have hesides offices 2431, and class rooms, a little theatre which is to he used for a drama class room. The huildings which are to he erected later will include a g'yll'lllilSl1llll, a music room, a cafeteria, and several work shops. At the present time the Board of Trustees is composed of Dr. Gr. gg? XV. Grannis, president, A. tl. Crowell, clerkg NV. R. Service, XV. A. Uv Oherkamper and Lura C. Littler. J., r The Laying ot the Cornerstone i . .....,Q . . 1 A ' The cornerstone for the new adiuinstration building was laid April the tl1i1'tieth, nineteen hundred twenty-six. lncidentally. this date also marked the twentieth anniversary of the Turlock Union lflfigli School. 1 This event was under the direction of the Turlock Chauiher ot' Comiuerce, an organization which has never ceased in turtllering' the interests and activities ot the school. An unusual prograiu, which was heartily received by an audience ot some seven hundred and titty, accompanied the laying of the stone. Just preceding' the ceremony the Stanislaus County Boyls Band played a popular selection. Mr. Tilt'lIQl'llJ?ll'llGl', President of the Chain- ber ot Connuerce, assisted Mr. Norman XYeeks, arcliiteet,-tin laying the stone. A selection ilfroin the Boy's Band followed hy a benedietion given by Rev. Davis, concluded the pl'OQQ1.'I:1ll'1. Mr. Scott, who gave the chief address, declared, liTl121t education should teach the individual how to live as a useful citizen. He went ou to say, The school should serve another purpose than niere book learning. The significant thing in life is the direction taken after hirth. lt is of little importance where hirth finds us, whether it is in a log.: cabin or a palatial houie, just so long as we develop into use- ful citizens. The 'fact that Lincoln was born in a log cabin is not very important, hut the fact that lie hecaine an einancipator and an international citizen is the big thing in lite. ln closing' Mr. Scott said that instructors should not he curtailed in their einlvzivois to 'Find truth, no matter where it is to he found. even though it may disturh the present day heliefs.
