Text from Pages 1 - 88 of the 1964 volume:

DEDICATION Although it is not for us, the Senior Class to judge, it is our firm and thus attested belief that our friend and teacher, Mrs. Irene Fee, richly deserves this, the 1964 TUHISEAN dedication. For she, as a teacher and counselor has helped many of us through minor and major high school crises. Thus we, the Senior Class, in gratitude give this our humble gift to her as a small repayment for her past help. Mrs. Fee, we salute you. This year for the first time Tupper Lake High School has had a visitor from abroad as an exchange student. Chizuko, a resident of Japan, has managed by living here with us to better in her small way the international cooperation of the world. She has shed light on our western strangeness in her own quaint manner and we in return have attempted to show her the good side of our American civilization. Although after this year we will be separated by many miles, we wish her to know that she has captured a part of all our hearts. We hope she has enjoyed her year here as much as we have enjoyed having het Thank you, Chizu. IJS JVIE JV1OEXAJVI Never before in the history of the United States has any one man meant as much to the youth of this nation as had John Fitzgerald Kennedy to this generation. Through actions concerning Berlin, Cuba, And the U. S. S. R.; he kept us out of war as well as retaining our political prestige. And at home his actions welded varied segments into one people, one nation under God. Therefore at this time of tragedy, at the time of this vital man's unbelievable assassination, we, the Senior Class of Tupper Lake High School wish to dedicate this page of our TUHISEAN to our late and beloved President, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, as posthumous recognition of the greatest man of our decade, perhaps of this century. MOTTO: ’’THE WILL TO LIVE AND ENJOY LIFE IS ONE OF THE GREATEST DRIVES WE HAVE” SONG: TOYS IN THE ATTIC FLOWER: CORAL ROSE COLORS: CORAL AND WHITE CLASS HISTORY We. the Class of '64, started our Freshman year by electing the following officers: President, Jeffrey Smith; Vice-President, Susan Peter; Treasurer, John Woods; Secretary, Arlene Bartlett. New to the ways of high school students, we simply held dances this first year. Our Sophomore year found us under the capable leadership of Bradley Annette, President; Susan Peter, Vice-President; Roy Brown, Treasurer; and Arlene Bartlett, Secretary. Feeling that we needed more money, we sponsored a Valentine Hop. This proved to be a very successful dance. When we became Juniors, we decided that instead of having a Penny Carnival, we would sponsor a Junior Circus. After a good deal of hard work we had a parade and the circus on a day in May. Financially, it was a great success. The best part came when our boys dressed as ladies and did a dance for the crowd. We also helped the Senior Class put on the Junior-Senior Prom, Evening In Paris . Our officers for the Junior year were: Roy Brown, President: Shirley Crary, Vice-President; Lee Wood, Treasurer; and Mary Jane Woods, Secretary. We started our Senior year by electing the following officers: President, Michael Mead; Vice-President, Shirley Crary; Treasurer, John Woods; Secretary, Arlene Bartlett. In no time at all we had organized our TUHISEAN Staff and decided to sell Christmas cards to help finance this yearbook. We are now looking forward to our last high school prom, the Senior Tea, Senior Banquet, Senior Dance, and to Graduation. We hope that each underclassman enjoys his years at TLHS as much as we have enjoyed ours. CLASS MOSTS CLASS CLOWNS RAE HASSLER and WAYNE BARCOMB All the world laughs with them.
