THE SENIOR CLASS PRESENTS THE 1961 TUHISEAN TUPPER LAKE HIGH SCHOOL TUPPER LAKE, N.Y. DEDICATION This year, we the members of the Senior class wish to honor the memory of the late Mr. Leonard Perry who was Director of Athletics at Tupper Lake High School for twenty-seven years. He worked tirelessly with his teams from 1933 until he grew ill and finally had to leave last February. Under his superb coaching talents many football championships and basketball championships have been won by Tupper High. His aims however, did not center on mere winning teams. His many accomplishments, both as our Athletic Director and as an esteemed member of our community, are too numerous to be accounted here. Mr. Perry is gone now, but he is not and will not be forgotten by those who knew and admired him. We the members of the class of 61 can only hope to live up to the standards by which he lived and the examples which he set. It is with deeply felt pride and sincerity that we dedicate the 1961 Tuhisean to Mr. Leonard Perry. MR. BAKER, Principal; MR. DONOVAN, Superintendent. Throughout its years of high school the class of 1961 has been guided by our principal, superintendent and school board. Although we cannot fully express our gratitude to them, we feel that the class of ’61 has benefited greatly by the efforts of our principal, Mr Baker; Our superintendent, Mr. Donovan and our school board. With this fact in mind, the 1961 TUHISEAN staff has put together a book which we feel will interest everyone--even those not closely connected with the school. We wish to thank Mr. Baker, Miss Proulx, the photographers, and the class itself, without whose excellent advice and co-operation the completion of this very important project would have been impossible. Smith, Girls Sports N. White, Boys’ Sports CLASS OF 1961 -I 1; CLASS MOTTO A matters not how long we live, but how.' “TIME WAS Time was when we were kids on the school yard swings. When we exchanged graduation rings, one lovely yesterday. Time was when we wrote love letters in the sand and lingered over our coffee and dreaming the time away. Scenics and hay-rides and mid-winter sleigh rides and never apart. Hikes through the country and all of these memories we hold deep within our hearts. Every tomorrow will be complete if all our memories are half as sweet as all our time was then. Every, Every tomorrow will be complete if all our memories are half as sweet as all our time was then. SENIORS OFFICERS AND ADVISORS At its first meeting the class of ’61 elected the following officers: N. White, President; C. Staves, Secretary; J. Staves, Vice-President; S. Crary, Treasurer. Under the very capable guidance of our advisors Miss Proulx, Mrs. Austin, Mr. Stubley, and Mr. Whitlock, we began our senior projects. We held the annual Sadie Hawkins dance on October 29th. We chose our TUHISEAN Staff and sold Christmas cards to finance our yearbook. Ahead of us yet is the Prom, the Senior Banquet, and of course graduation. Graduation--a shining milestone which we shall never see again but shall never forget as it is a goal we set out to obtain and reached--together. Nor shall we forget those who helped make our high school years such memorable ones. Remember us. Won’t you? ROSEMARY BAKER Rosie Her very frowns are fairer far than smiles of other maidens are. After suffering setbacks from Saranac Lake and Gouverneur, the Red and Black defeated Malone, 21-6, on the local field, which in Pregame ceremonies had been dedicated to the late Leonard Perry, former athletic director and coach of Tupper from 1933. Following the Malone game Tupper lost to Massena, tied Ogdensburg and lost to Canton and Potsdam. These boys played hard, clean and always showed good sportsmanship throughout the season. Hats off to them. JR. VARSITY FOOTBALL FIRST ROW: N. Cote, K. Gravlin, C. Rolley, J. Marinello, D. Crary, W. Williams, S. Rice, R. Pickering, J. Scotte. SECOND ROW: R. Dunning, R. Bujold, W.
