DEDICATION • ,, } j7 Apt ?'«} '■' si i Li XT' • r-: y ; f . • ■ ItmH'£ , t i Y vBSBm Mr. Stubley came to Tupper Lake High School only a few years ago. During this time he has shown discerning guidance as a Senior Class adviser and as Student Council adviser. It is with humble appreciation that we, the class of 60, dedicate this TUHISEAN to our friend and teacher, Mr. Stubley. ADMINISTRATION Mr. Baker. Principal; Mr. Donovan, Superintendent of Schools. Although the Board of Education is not directly known and associated with the students of Tupper Lake High School, we have many things for which to thank them. It is they who make our athletic program for both boys and girls possible. The men on our board, Thomas Somers, AmosLaBarge, William Perry, Ernest Wood and Lee Oldfield, assisted by Mr. Joseph Donovan, Superintendent of Schools, and Mr. Fred Baker, Principal, certainly make Tupper Lake High School a pleasant school to attend, and we the Senior Class wish to thank them. Mr. Thomas Somers, Mr. William Perry, Mr. Ernest Wood, Mr. Amos LaBarge, Mr. Lee Oldfield. COMMERCIAL LANGUAGE SENIOR OFFICERS D. Woods, Treasurer; L. LaRocque, Secretary; J. LaValley, Vice-President; R. Trick, President. At our first class meeting in September, the Senior Class of 60 chose as officers, Richard Trick, President; June LaValley, Vice-President; Lynn LaRocque, Secretary; and David Woods, Treasurer. In close cooperation with our advisors Miss Proulx, Mrs. Austin, Mr. Stubley, and Mr. Whitlock, we began our profitable Senior year. The first project we undertook was the concession stand at all the home football games. This proved to be a worthwhile and profitable activity. In October, the Seniors sold Christmas cards. The proceeds of which were used to help finance our TUHISEAN. In addition, we sponsored the annual Sadie Hawkins dance and a round and square dance. Still yet to come is the Junior, Senior Prom, Senior Tea and banquet and graduation, which we are all looking forward to. CLASS MOTTO Let each become all that he is capable of being CLASS COLORS Aqua and Silver CLASS FLOWERS Pink Carnations CLASS HISTORY In September of 1956, we the new Freshmen, were probably the only class anxious to start school because we were to start our high school years. Led by Tim Bannon, President; June La Valley, Vice-President; Lynn LaRocque, Secretary; Richard Lemieux, Treasurer; we were ready to start our year’s activities. • Our first project was entering into the Christmas decorations contest. When the rules finally permitted us, we began with paint, paper and brushes in hand. After the diligent work--the reward. We won first prize. In the months to follow, we had a foodsale whose success we owe to our mothers because most of the food there was due to their efforts. We had a very profitable record hop that year also. Upon returning in the fall of'57 as Sophomores with many new ideas, we elected Tim Bannon, Linda Soucy, Lynn LaRocque, and Wayne Pickering as officers. To prove we were an ambitious class we had another dance this year. It turned out very well. In the Spring we tried our first attempt at a class assembly. Using T.V. programs as our theme, we had a hilarious assembly enjoyed by everyone. Then rolled around our Junior year. As officers, Richard Trick, Linda Currier, June La Valley and David Woods. We were looking forward to this year because we were to select our class rings. Under the guidance of Mr. Baker, we were the first class to have a standard ring for Tupper Lake High School. Our first activity this year was our concession stand at all home football games. This proved to be a very worthwhile money-making project for our class. The next big event of the year for Juniors was our Penny Carnival. Our booths and games certainly brought in the money that night. It was a huge success. Itching for some new ideas, we decided to have a Sock Hop with prizes for the funniest pairs of socks. Come Spring of ’59 it was prom time. Cooperating with the Seniors we had the biggest dance of the year Stardust Serenade’ . Many students in our class have participated in other activities --band, basketball and football, cheerleading and many of our school’s clubs. This has filled our past years with fun, excitement and memories. Although we hate to leave our Alma Mater and all our teachers and friends, we bid a fond farewell to Tupper High. With the capable guidance of a fine coaching staff, the team ran up a record of 3 wins and 4 losses. The team started off poorly and lost their first 3 games. But with the fight and drive displayed by this team of 25 men, they won 3 out of their last 4 games and if they could have had another go around they probably could have beaten everybody. With the fine talent coming up from the Junior Varsity’s the team should be strong again next year. The Junior Varsity team, for the second straight year, went undefeated winning 5 games and tying one. But the big thing about this year’s team was that no team in the league scored against this Junior Varsity outfit. The closest they came to losing was a 0-0 tie with Malone. With this brand of football being played by Tupper High, we can’t help but have a great Varsity football team in Tupper Lake in the future. Junior High football had a successful season, coached by Mr. Quinn. The boys practiced nightly and carried on a rivalry with Saranac Lake, splitting 4 games. These will be the Varsity players of tomorrow and we are proud of them. BASKETBALL W-HS M Hsj HS For the 20th time in 23 years the Tupper Lake Varsity basketball team played in the playoffs. This year with a team consisting of seven seniors, two juniors, and a freshman, we won 12 games and lost 4. At home we won 7 out of 8 and won 5 out of 8 on the road. Throughout the year we led the league until we lost at Gouverneur 51-63. We $nded up in 3rd place and first in points scored with 1199. In the playoffs we played Gouverneur and after a hard-fought seesaw battle we finally lost 57-64. Next year the varsity will lose Tim Bannon, Jim Brown, Nick Lamberti, Tom Corneau, Dave Woods, Pat Bentley, and John Raymond by means of graduation. But the return of Ray Brunette, Neil White and Steve Crary and good prospects in the JV’s promise another good Tupper team next year. The JV’s started off strong this year by winning their first 8 games, but when Ray Brunette was moved up to the varsity the JV’s could only win 4 out of their remaining 8 games. With a 12-4 record they ended up in third place just like the varsity. The freshmen (Bill Martin, Walt Williams, Allen Thompson, Don Savard) will form next year’s JV's and the others Jim Brooks, Wayne Soucy, Bill Soucy, Gary Tice, John Chase and Irvin Cole will move up and strengthen the varsity. Good luck to the JV’s in the future. GOLF VARSITY CHEERLEADERS Linda Aseel, Judy Staves, June LaValley, Rosemary Baker, Mary Ann Maroun, Sandra Gravlin. J. V.
