The growth of the Spirit and its developments are strikingly depicted on these pages. As the Spirit has matured in these past four years, it has seen beneath its shadow, a group unified with a singleness of purposeg it has witnessed triumphs over in- tellectual and social stumbling blocks encountered in the past four years. The Spirit now proudly sends forth its sons and daughters, trained in heart, mind, and body, to render worth-while service to their fellow men and their country. x 'yy' . 4- Q-Q4 A 4 'f TQ ,ew N I . . Paul Cagnier was chosen as President, Irene Sarazen as Vice-President, Joe Clement as Treasurer, and Yvonne Planty as Secretary. Under the competent advice of Miss Proulx and Mr. Christian, our first project undertaken was a square dance which was a huge success. We next undertook a Penny Carnival at which everyone had a pleasant time. Just before Christmas we sold Christmas and All Occasion cards from which we raised a great deal of money for our yearbook. At the present time we are making plans for our Senior Ball, another square dance, and Class Day. SE IDB UPFICEH5 SENIOR OFFICERS L. to R.: Y. Planty, Sccre Laryg I. Sarazen, Vice Presidentg P. With gleamful eyes and c attering mouths we boarded the Freshman plane of knowledge making a oup of insplringgzassengers under the able guidance of our stewardess and bombardier Miss Malakie ang Mr. Tooley, In ptember, 1948. Our ingenuity and eagerness provided the fuel which tumed tl: propellers that started us flyin forward. We started our long c imb by electigg our first officers to keep us going in the right direction. wi decided Hardy Horan, as president, would m e a good pilot. Om' vice- resident Carol LaDue made an excellent co-pi ot. We comp eted our crew with two excellent navigators: Cheney, treasurer and Jane Bobak, secretary. How far away the destination of graduation seemed as we were on our happy climbing journey. Our first year was au active one with Dorothy Guild top ing the honor ro throughout the season as she did the rest of the school career. Of course the basketbagl, track, football, base all, ski and olf teams could never have glotten by without the aid of our boys as uplayers and our girls as cheerleaders.sThe mem- bers of our class a so too part in the Allpha and Press Cl s. Toward the end of our first climb we eveled off to have a successful party and celebrate our ability to carry on to our Sophomore tyear. In 1949 we again starte our flying climb wondering if it would be as smooth as our first. M term we replaced our stewardess and acquired two bombardiers, our advisors Mr. Baker and Mr. c . Our officers also changed. President Joe Clement took over as pilot, vice resident Jane Bobak took over as co-pilot and our two navilgstors became Ayn Shaheen as treasurer and.5orothy Guild as secretary. The Tlrpper Lake Hidr Schoo swelled with pridge to have Sophomore boys active ll all sports and the Sophomore Girls as Cheerleaders and Gym Leaders. In regard to co-educational activities our class held flying colors in the Dramatics and Press Clubs. Once again we leveled off for another rousing party to end our career as Sophomores. Initiative led our class to its third climb-the Junior Year. Here in 1950 we took on another stewardess, Mrs. Austin along with o e new bombardier Mr. Cote and one old .bombardier Mr. McGinn. U d th t t I dersh' f 'd t L Ed ds ilot, vice- esid t Irene Sarazeu as co- ner ecom en ea rpo pres: en eo war asp pr en pilot, treasurer lgfbert Owen and secretary Jane Bobak as navigators, we started the engines on a roaring climb by putting on the first square dance of the season. This was a peat success. ecause of our un- excelled ability, we outahined the Seniors by our glorious prom the CAROUSEL at which we featured Freddy Gra and his orchestra. Even thoudr we had to go in the red for such grand music, everyone was delidtthrlly pleased. Again our class led in sports and girls' activities along with Pep, Dramatics, and Press Club membss. We also had two toueful singers, Betty LaBarge and Jane Bobak, who attended the Spring Festival and won honorable mmtion. ' Our final climb was started in Se tenber, 1951, under the much looked forward to advisorship of Steward- ess Miss Proulx and Bombardiers Christian and Mr. Bayer. . l As our last but never forgotten crew. we chose president Paul Gagiier as pilot, vice-president Irene Sarasen as co-pilot, and treasurer of Ol!! much needed funds Joe Clement along with secretary Yvonne Planty as uavigators. . Our first successful project undertaken was a seyuare dance at which everyone had s splendid time. T HISEI-iN ST PP Locked within the printed pages of the 1952 Tuhisean are the photographs of the stu- dents with whom, hand in hand, we have stniggled along the pathway to leaming and the faculty who, with their magical know-how, have contributed so abundantl that we may be better equipped for a successful future. Perhaps in the future we too will be sending our youngsters down that same pathway of learning and we will be able to reminisce with them over our exciting school days by glancing at the Tdiisean. To make possible this 1952 Tuhisean, it was necessary to form a com tent student staff. With our able advisor, Miss Proulx, we raised the necessary funds angecompiled the necessary information. The entire class participated in the sponsoring of the annual Penny Carnival, a square dance, selling cards, and enlarging the list of subscribers. f 3 ? Q4 '-Q-Q Q4 t . For instance: Planning a parade? The high school band, of course. Planning a commtmity celebration of almost any kind The high school band, of course. In planning almost any ty of program the high school band is the organization most likely to be on the hind of the list to be asked to help. The members of the Tupper Lake High School Band are to be congillatulated. They have rehearsed since September, four and sometimes five morn is each wee , to attain a goal of musicianship that will come only through re earsal. During the football season the band pla ed for all of the home games and trav- eled to Massena and to Saranac Lake. 'lyhey have participated in seven parades in Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake, have added zest to many pep rallies, have given programs for the Tup er Lake Rotary Club, have produced three assembly pro ams, took part in the EYSSMA festival in Potsdam and had a major portion of thine annual spring musical held in Tupper Lake. The band brings together many stu- dents, who otherwise would never have the opportunity to become acquainted. The experience a student receives, in S? x band, teaches them to cooperate and work together as a team and also to be a leader and at the sane time a follow- er. This experience is invaluable to any student who wishes to indulge in something fine and who has the in- telligence and patience to rehearse, diligently, toward dperfection in a specialized field of e ucation. mjaoqdi A. he B. 0 J' so ygcfsilual G Dccwai S. we Tl' A pet'-01 ' 1. Tupper Lake ended up the ear 1951 with three wins and three losses and a canceled game with O densburg. With the exception of Gfenwood Charland and Don Lan- thier, Tupper had a completely new team on the field. Coach Len Perry spent most of the year rebuilding his team for the next year when Tlipper will probably be one of the power houses of the Northern League. The '51 team had four freshmen, Bob LaBarge, Chuck Paye, Richard Beauchamp and Jim Bourbeau, who showed much promise. Boys who hadn't seen much action but came along fine were Marvin Connor, Ted Staves, Jack Dumoulin and James Savard. Left overs from the '50 team who gave a good account of them- selves were: Ro er LaClair, Everett Roberson and Cfarence Bell. All in all-, the season was a success, with Tu per ending in a tie for third place and, roducing an All-Nmthem, Glen- wood, Charland, who was also chosen on the All-Upstate team. Other candi- dates for All-Northern were: Clar- ence Bell, Bob LaBarge, Jim Bour- beau and Dick Beauchamp. SCORES PIJUTB LL J. V.
