MISS BETH WILSON SECRETARY W D ALLEN SUPERINTENDENT A native Mississippian, Superintendent W. D. Allen was born in Braxton, Missis- sippi, and was educated in the Simpson County Public Schools, graduating from Simpson County High School in 1922. He received his B. A. degree from Mississippi College in 1926 and the following fall entered the field of public school administration as Superintendent of the Pinola, Mississippi High School. He took graduate work at the University of Alabama, the University of Mississippi, and received his M. A. degree in school administration and supervision from Louisiana State University in August, 1941. Three years later he entered the Tupelo schools as principal of the high school and in 1946 became the superintendent of the city school system. Mr. Allen has served as chairman of the Mississippi Educational Association Committee for the Improvement of Negro Education and the M. E. A. Legislative Committee. At the present, he is vice-president of the Big Eight Schools' Associationg a member of the legislative council of the Mississippi High School Association, the Mississippi Y. W. C. A. Board of Directors, and Phi Delta Kappa-national educational fraternity, the Northeast Mississippi representative for the state Y. M. C. A. organization. Superintendent Allen is a deacon in the Calvary Baptist Church and teacher of the Langston Bible Class. He is also a past president of the Tupelo Rotary Club.

Lumpkin, serving his sixth year, is Lieut- enant-governor of the State of Mississippi. Mr. B. E. Lyle, owner-operator of a local wholesale com- pany, has been a board member for four years. Mr. M. O. C O McKEE PRINCIPAL OFFICE HELPERS Principal C. O. McKee, now serving his third year in Tupelo High School, hails from Kenton,Tennessee, where he received his early education. After graduation from high school, Mr. McKee studied for his B. A. degree at the University of Tennessee where he was a member of Kappa Alpha social fraternity. He acquired his M. A. and M. Ed. degrees at George Peabody College. There he was initiated into the highest na- tional educational fraternity, Phi Delta Kappa. Before he came to Tupelo in 1941 as junior High School Principal, Mr. McKee taught at Gadsden, Tennessee, Blytheville, Arkansas, and Galatin, Tennessee. june, 1942, found him entering the U. S. Army. After finishing basic training, he became an instructor in a technician's school in E1 Paso, Texas. In 1945 he returned to Tupelo to serve again in his former capacity for a year before his appointment as high school principal. Mr. McKee is at present a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Church of Christ, the Mississippi Educational Association, the National Educational Association, and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
