Boys Basketball Ends an Era Coach Bill Ward is surrounded by his family and many of his former players as a tribute to his 25 achin basketball at Tumwater Hi h years of co g U ,Q School. Coach Ward was honored during halftime of his last T-Bird home game. After 25 years of coaching basketball, THS head coach Bill Ward retired at the conclusion of the 85-86 season. Coach Ward was the first baketball coach at THS and led many of his teams to league, district, regional and state competitions. Junior Varsity Back row: Coach Ken Coleman, Shavnm Denny, Mike Amey, Brian Crane, Stacey Jones. Front row: Hildo Rodriguez, Matt Willis, Ben Clement, Chris Verellen, Dave Smith. The junior varsity boys showed much improvement in their play during the course of the season. Led by coach Ken Coleman, the sophomore dominated team work hard to improve their skills from game to game. The C team was built on determination and integrity. The entire squad had a good attitude and played hard the full 32 minutes of every game. The experience each team member gained was extrememly important, according to Coach Howard rooks. The freshmen players, coached by Matt McCauley, showed a lot of hard work that was not indicated by their 4-10 record. They did improve vastly throughout the season and ended with a sense of achievement. David Koch swishes a lay-in
