The Class Of 1979 Presents Volume XIV Dardanian Tulpehocken High School R.D. 2, Bernville, Pa For the love of life we carry on Through the smiles and. the tears Past the sunsets and the dawns Among the failures and the fears We grasp at starry dreams And search to create new trust When we lose the shimmering beams In this life's daily dust The days here we have shared And we have followed one road We learned, we taught, we cared Rising to carry life's load We've reached out as we passed And perhaps we've left a mark But now the road becomes a path With spreading ways to send us apart We must reach for a new choice And learn to follow a new trail Echo beyond a changing voice While over lonely miles we sail And we leave behind these last four years Filled with memories and fragments of love That echo of dreams and hopes and fears Which now melt to the past in a smile from above And the promises we made The friendships we knew All these will never fade Encased in that smile so true Now each sets out on his magical quest That will lead us far away Searching through many trials and tests For the promised sun of day So we ask you for a prayer For happiness, joy, and love And for a gift of life to share What dreams are really made of by L. Although the girls' hockey team did not make the play-offs this year, they made the best of their season with a lot of effort and hard work. Their over-all season ended in 5 wins and 6 losses, 3 of them ending in penalty flicks. In spite of the stiff competition in the Nor- lebco Tournament, the Trojans proudly captured the second place trophy by defeat- ing Garden Spot 2-0 in the first game and losing to Northern Lebanon 5-4 in overtime and finally losing in penalty flicks. 165 Boys’ Varsity Basketball Kneeling: Randy Fisher, Dale Moyer. Valley « This year's team has shown signs of improvement over last year's 0-20 season. The play- ers show a great desire for winning, but our inexperience proves to be our downfall. Turnovers and inexperience against varsity pressure seem to be the keys. As the season progresses, we should gain more confidence in our- selves and be able to handle pressure situations. The sea- son's record will depend on how fast we mature as varsity players. Cap., Brad Benfer, Dale Moyer, and Coach Behler. So, that's where the ball belongs? This year's JV team began with a good mixture of sophomores and freshmen. They showed great promise early in the season. As the season progressed, some players showed their improvement by advancing to the varsity level. This forced many freshman to see a great deal of action. They played well, but lost some very disappointing games. Overall, the season was one of building and learning, and the experience gained should be very helpful in the years ahead. 168 ff THS OPP. 40 Wms. The 1 'mean'' team poses for a picture. f This year the girls' basketball team under their new coach, Ms. Kochera, had a hard- working season. Even though this year's team had height and ability, the victories were hard to come by because of the tough competition. Re- gardless of the few vic- tories they captured, the girls enjoyed a high level of team spirit and had much fun throughout the season. Better luck next year, girls! Mary practices her defense on Shelli. Dawn reaches high above the other girls to take her shot. Tall Lisa Ziegler easily wins the tapoff. 171 ■ Elizab.
