They are showing their feelings for T.H.S. with their participation in activities as well as the smiles on their faces. They have some good ideas when it comes to ways to make money. Several in this class are high achievers and make the most of their abilities. Bill Schneider wrote this: The Sophomores of 1987-1988 remind me of the saying, 'Great people with extraordinary amounts of determination'. As Mary Lou Moreno states it: “The Sophomore class has been very involved this school year. They took part in the RAP competition, homecoming skit competition, the skateboard competition, as well as other various competitions. They have achieved highly. As Dorothy Hulsey states her opinion: “It’s always refreshing to become aquainted with every class entering Tulia High School. This sophomore class has its uni- que set of personalities and abilities. I expect grest achievements from them. Another statement given by Judy Stewart is: I have worked with this class for two years as sponsor. I have always found this class willing to do anything I’ve ask- ed. We stamped our cheeks with Hornets on Stinger Day and decorated our socks on Sock It To 'Em Day to show that Hornet spirit. Thursday, after several weeks of carefully guarding their wood and stealing all they could, each class proudly delievered their loads of wood to the bon- fire site. Friday, we started the day off by taking our Hats Off To The Hornets. The day ended with an exciting pep rally. Each class pulled their float in the mini parade to the gym. CEA An Unmistakable Good Year OEA is a class designed to teach students office procedures, leadership abilities, and secretarial skills. Mrs. Raymond kept the girls very busy this year learning these skills which will help them in the future, but that's not all they did. The girls in the club were involved in many other activities. At the first of the year, they chose secret pals and decided to be secret elves to the teachers. When Halloween came, they made baskets and took them to the hospital. They sponsored a needy family at Christmas. The girls also gave a breakfast for the teachers and revealed to each teacher who his her secret elf was. At Valentines, the girls sold Val-O-Grams. They wrapped up the year with an exciting End-of-the-Year Party. Susan M., Susan S., and Trudie work hard mak- ing baskets. Tara got to run on the Varsity mile relay because of a hurt teammate It wasn't until her sophomore year that her secret talent was discovered. At that time, she ran cross country only as a conditioner for track the following season Tara's first meet was in Amarillo and she ran against all five classes. The first ten places received medals and she took the 10th one home This was when she knew that she could really run That fall, Tara placed 5th at the State Cross-Country Meet in Austin. After this great feat, the Irlbecks started taking track seriously Of course, the next spring she ran on the Varsity track team. At her 2nd trip to Austin, Tara placed 1st in the 3200 meter and 2nd in the 1600 meter Her junior year was Tara's best year She brought home the 2nd place medal from State in cross-country. That spring, Tara captured the gold in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. The the 3200 meter, she set a new record with a time of 11 24.2. Her senior year. Tara encountered many ups and downs Although she qualified for Stete, Tara's leg problems and many headaches prevented her from upholding her tradition at cross-country. But in the State Track Meet in Austin the following spring. Tara made up for her fall. She qualified for the 800 meter run and the 1600 meter run Tara gave up her spot to the 3rd place regional winner Tara’s reasoning was to save her strength for the 1600 meters. The races were on the same day. After the race was over, Tara had ran a five minute mile with a time of 5:06 5 She had the silver medal. The Beevilee runer that had beaten Tara, ran a five minute mile and has planned to sign with the University of Southern California. That was fine with Tara, because she had run her personal best and had missed the school record by only a se- cond. During her senior year, Tara was chosen to represent Texas with the Track All Stars. She was chosen along with 14 other girls, to represent Texas at the half time of the All Stars Basketball Game in Dallas These girls were chosen from all classes in Texas. One might say. that Tara, by MO MISTAKE, did her best through '88 Tara takes time for a picture. “Summer Brave — One Act A brotherly knuckle burn lor W sis Cast and crew got some relaxation time during the competition Carl and Mindy share one of the most dramatic moments m the first One Act Play to go to state com petition in half a century An introduction to the old maid school teacher An enjoyable night on the town during state competition Delivering mrfk and a newspaper during the play LINDA’S SNACK BAR 124 Maxwell I' )5 4 1 i! We know that our school is the best place to grow up in, get an education, and most of all; to leave and come back to. m ‘ - w,. We on the annual staff had a hard time picking s year’s annual. But, we finally decided on “There’s No Mistake in ’88.” The theme sounds good but most of all it was very fitting. THS has the pride of knowing that onceT again it has sent forth another class of winners. NO MISTAKES AT ALL!!! Taylor Publishing Company llnsfcc wmaamm
