Faculty Congratulations on the completion of another suc- cessful school year. I hope this has been an outstan- ding year for you and that you can look back with pride on your accomplishment. The winning” attitude you have helped develop will be remembered and carried on for many years to come. All the students of T.H.S. are truly winners. Thank you for another great year. The success of my school is determined by the student body, the faculty, and the community. Because of the students who are proud of T.H.S., the faculty which provides guidance and learning, and the community that gives support, the 1980- 1981 school year has been successful beyond my expectation. An exciting Homecoming at the Memorial Building. Boys’ Cross-Country Ricky Buentello ran varsity cross- country and achieved an outstanding record. He ran a time of 16:33 at district which gave him his first place medal and sent him on to regionals. At regional he placed first with the time of 16:59, and he was off to state! At state he placed twenty-first which is an outstanding accomplishment for runn- ing cross-country against very tough competition. Congratulations Ricky! Ricky was not the only male par- ticipator in cross-country. Dwayne Renolds ran J.V. cross-country, and he represented Tulia High School very well in doing so. Hornets Win 2nd in District Play Row 1. Sweetheart Konnie Clark Student Council just rolls along for Tulia High School. Student Council Strived for Success Student Council is the student government organization in Tulia High School. The Council sponsors many different activities throughout the year, including the bonfire, homecoming, the Miss Valentine pageant, track day and various dances. Fall activities sponsored by the Student Council are mostly centered around the homecoming celebration. The Council is responsible for organizing ail aspects of the bonfire, from the wood gathering to the kissing of Miss Flame. Spring functions include the annual intramural track meet, in which the students participate in such events as the cow chip throw, chariot race, three-legged race, and the human pyramid contest. This past year the council also sponsored a sock hop bringing back memories of years gone by. The Student Council is composed of approximately 31 members who are elected by the student body. The council members serve as the link between the faculty and the student body. The purpose of the Student Council is service, and the Student Council of 1980-1981, has done an excellent job of fulfilling that purpose. 130 Thespians Receive New Back Row: G. Hawthorne, F. Valentine Sweetheart for 1980-81. I pledge myself to uphold the high purpose of this Society to which I have been elected, striving in every way by word and deed to make its ideals the ideals of my school and of my life. The colors of the Society are blue and gold. Blue is the symbol of truth, and gold is the light by which truth radiates through the world. It has been said: Four things a man must learn to do. If he would make his record true; SCHOLARSHIP: To think without confusion clearly. SERVICE: To love his fellow men sincerely. LEADERSHIP: To act from honest motives purely. CHARACTER: And trust in God and Heaven securely. W. Littlefield. G. Hawthorne. L. Acker, D. Vaughn at installment of new members. nor Society M. Stephens, D. Galloway, K. Travis. L. O’Daniel, K.
