Oizocfcm Uazfwziggf fpzincifzafja 55116195 The theme UTime', is most appropriate for a school year book. The philosophic topic most pop- ular in relation to this theme, the importance of the present, becomes very pronounced to seniors at graduation--a time generally recognized as a turning point where a single decision chooses among future paths whichnuy lead to diierent ways of life. Faced with these choices the graduate must surely agree with the philosopher, HThe time is now.' As he ponders over these decisions, he finds that his present choices are controlled by past decisions and actions. Choice of courses, attendance records, and grades during the years in high school determine whether or not he is sought after or rejected by colleges or employers. At this point the fuller meaning of the philosopher becomes apparent. Each moment once spent,is irre- trievable, and the acts performed or decisions made become an integral factor in all later decisions. cSNuf1.s'zi12fsncfa1zf'1 snags Things that endure are said to have stood the test of time. The criteria of time testing might very well be applied to education as it has dra- matically justified its worth and its cost. Although our history books and current writers Dass over this basic element in the development Of our society and economy lightly, nevertheless, Without our public schools, time would have Passed us by. jfsifg qfyaifa an EPM ,..-- v ,f 6, 'el-'-- '+' .fwmam5QHl
