11,- . ,:g?5??5qn'1:l Captain Glen R. Cheek, USN, was born in Durham, North Carolina. Upon graduation from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, he received his commission as an Ensign in 1944. His first assignments were at sea on the USS ST. MARYS QAPA- 1265, USS PITT QAPA-2233, and USS MARQUETTE CAKA-95. I Captain Cheek left the Navy in 1946 to attend the University of North Carolina. Upon graduation, he returned to active duty and has since served at sea on the USS HENRICO CAPA-453, USS BEXAR CAPA-2371, USS NECHES QAO-473 and USS R. K. HUNTINGTON QDD-7811. He has commanded the USS TIOGA COUNTY QLST-ll58J and USS AULT CDD-6981. e o m1944121- Captain Cheek's duties ashore have included the Military Sealift Command at Cape Kennedy, Florida and Bremerhaven, Germany, as well as assignments on the staffs of the Chief of Naval Material and the Chief of Naval Operations in Washington. Additionally, he has taught at the Naval Amphibious Training Unit in Little Creek, Virginia and has studied at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and the Armed Forces Staff College. Captain Cheek came to the TULARE from duty as Commanding Officer, Military Sealift Com- mand Office, Vietnam. -qs Q.. ,, - .
