Yoshi Watanabe of the ' to be our liaison officer between the ship and the dignitaries of Kagoshima and Sasebo. Kagoshima t ' provided many of us with our first view of a live volcano belching smoke. Three days was the most time We could spend in Kagoshima and the Tulare departed there on the 26th of November and headed for Sasebo where we arrived the following day. I-lere as in Yokosuka the exchanges caught our eyes and it Wasn't long before our -Wallets were empty. The generosity of the crew was most evident here as we all pitched in finan- cially and physically to aid an orphanage located in the hills back of the city.
