THE JAMBALAYA In this, the 44th volume, we have attempted to portray the college year as informally and com- pletely as possible and in the most modern mediums at our disposal. We have tried to avoid the stere- otyped and stiff type of annual usually issued, by a light, modern Tulanian theme and by new and modern art work, type, borders, inks, etc., and we hope that in so doing we have kept within the bounds of propriety. As to our staff, the editor and business manager were chosen from the staff by the Publications Board, and the other appointments were made by the respective staff heads, prime requisite being the work and interest shown. U. S. NAVY R. O. T. C. TUL IWE UlIT This year, for the first time since the days of Camp Martin in the World War, uniforms ap- peared on the campus. Tulane had been added to a small list of selected colleges, which have Naval R. O. T. C. Units. Four years from now, and every year hence, re- serve commissions will be given to the men who, under the able instruction and kindly guidance of the Navy ' s best teachers, have satisfactorily com- bltting, left to right: Lieut-Commander R.
