FHA HERO f J . Nicole, hard at work. Future Homemakers of America first began in June of 1945 when state home economic clubs, state Future Homemakers of America organizations, and indepen- dent home economic clubs joined together to form what it is now. FHA is the only in-school organization with the family as its central focus. Its chapters encourage personal growth, leadership development, family and communi- ty involvement and understanding the dual roles of men and women. Its main emphasis is on consumer homemaking education. FHA is supported primarily by student membership dues. The organization also seeks individual, corporate and foundation gifts. Sponsorship is an endorsment rather than financial support. Realizing the necessity to develop life skills, the organi- zation provides a variety of opportunities for decision- making, personal growth, occupational preparation and community involvement. The values we develop through participation in these experiences will provide a basis for coping with a world of constant change. Rachel gets enthused! Smile!
