U Entertainment at the banquet was furnished'by the Blue Notes. JUNIOR-SENIOR PRoM AND BANQUET The conversation continues during the meal, but a hush falls on the room as the Master of Ceremonies, Vic- tor Copeland, rises to introduce the guests and welcome the young men and women. After the traditional Pres- entation of the Hatchet by the Senior Class President to the Junior Class President, Dr. Norland Strawn gives a short talk on the meaning of the Mardi Gras. Entertain- ment was music by the Blue Notes and several panto- mimes. After the entertainment, everyone adjourned to the gym for the dance. The Grand March, led by the Senior Class President Bobby Adcock and his date. The room could hardly be recognized as the same place in which ball games were held. Serpentine was draped across the ceiling among many colored balloons. The band, The Collegians from Easter New Mexico Uni versity, provided the dance music. The Sophomores were kept busy serving punch. All too soon, the final note was played. The stu- dents were happy as they left. The sadness, the realiza- tion that for the Seniors this was the last time. Dr. and Mrs. N. Strawn, and Mr. and Mrs. R. G Stephenson, chaperones at the prom. 23
