Facing page: Trying to encourage spirit, cheerleaders ttopj ran onto the court to perform a routine. During football season Cleft centeri students wore spirit cards provided by the student government. On the day of a wrestling match Mat Maids decorated the hall lockers of the team. tbottom rightl The 'Junior class used Disney characters to caricature clubs and activities at Tucson High. tbottom Ieftl This page: Maria Cha and Cecilia Benitas listened as the winter sports teams were introduced at an assembly. ttopl Band member Greg Vaughn tbottom lefti displayed his spirit by wearing a Tucson High letter jacket. Junior class members tbottom rightl sold red and white and boutonnieres before the Christmas break.

Spirit Attempting to boost morale, the student council promoted several assemblies. Terpsi performed during the Homecoming festivities. Red and white badges were worn by many on Fridays before football games. The spirit raising slogans aided members of the faculty as well as students in displaying their enthusiasm. Students were able to exchange spirit by giving corsages, boutonnieres and Santa-Grams to each other. Fted and white Day and Hat Day were some of the events included in Spirit Week, which ended traditionally with the hall decoration contest. t n i iff x at 1

Noontime A five minute extension to the lunch period gave students more time to eat and socialize with their friends. Many used the extra time to do last minute studying for their classes, while others ventured off campus to near-by delis and fast food restaurants. The UA game room and the Park Student Center offered a break in the everyday routine. Many played tennis, frisbee and football during noontime.
