From many influences one personality. The environment of THS could be compared to the melting pot concept. Most students realized that not only were they changing but that the entire student body was changing as it accepted or rejected new ideas brought in by individuals of different cultural and social groups. School activities, conference and passing , periods and lunch provided the N opportunity to put these ideas to use. Soon after his arrival to the campus he found himself being introduced to school traditions. Events such as the Friday night games, Spaghetti Dinner, Tidybowl, the preparation of the Christmas boxes and Spirit Week A brought students together. Students were positively and negatively influenced through their contact with others. They had to learn to cope with people who lived and acted differently. To encompass this they became either more open-minded or more conserva- tive. They accepted the negative aspects of racism and the conflict between the social classes as an unavoidable way of life. Through all this the individual was able to remain independent while he blended into the total personality of the school. has M- 'vfvff vfrfff lil . .vf 1 ' 1 T l l l l 1 l i 1 ,dy A .
