ranged from picketing during the Students' participation, off-campus, teacher s strike to getting involved ' in the year's elections. Many students who worked on campaigns were rewarded by having their candidates succeed. As in previous , years many found that programs such as PIP and COE took up much of their after-school time. These jobs offered them experience in possible career choices. However, jobs were not restricted to placement through the school and included department store sales and fast-food work. Many students felt impelled to work whether it was to help out with family finances, to save for the future or to acquire spending money. In place I of, or in addition to these involvements, others worked as volunteers in church groups and community organizations. But work was not the only way the student spent his time. He used it to pursue hobbies, attend dances, concerts and games or just to be with friends. By taking part in off-campus activities which either directly or indirectly related to Tucson High, individuals' ties to the school strengthened into one. 10 1 - ,- . fl HE'
