Class in Chinese Chinese attracted 24 students for the first time this year. The new course, taught by Mr. David Hooker, stressed the reading and Writ- ing of complicated characters. Mr. Hooker taught the class first period only. Each level of French subscribed to a magazine designed for its ability. Third year German students read and paid for the maga- zine HDer Roller. Those learning Spanish also read literary works which included Span- ish and Mexican novels and plays. Students gave speeches in Spanish conversation class two or three times a week.
