THIS year's Student Council had many more problems Llgneet and solve due to the increased size of the student v. Led by Mike Flood, president of the student body, the group of 24 students--six from each class-met once a week to discuss various school issues. Dick Goode. vice-president, Susan Drachman, secre- tary, and Bill Polson, treasurer, acted as Mike's right- hand helpers in the numerous Council projects. Orientation was given all sophomore and freshman English classes, at which clubs, activities and elections were discussed and explained to help adapt the new- comers to Tl-IS. A big rally was held early in October, and later in the month the Council sponsored the big out-of-town game against Phoenix Union. Among the many small but important tasks under- taken by the Council were keeping the school bulletin boards up-to-date and installing hall monitors to help solve the hall traffic problem. A luncheon was given in honor of all Council and Court members and hall monitors. The annual student council convention was held at Salford early in December. After Christmas, the Council co-sponsored Twirp Week early in February. Another big project was the annual school carnival, with proceeds going for the Badger Den. Advisors for the Council were Florence Reynolds, Hand Slagle and J. D. Van Horn. It was the duty of the Traditions Court not to make, but to uphold and enforce the laws of the school. Various penalties were imposed. The Court required cul- prits to write themes of a given length, memorize school laws, run track laps, perform certain services for the school. or, for more severe violations, imposed demerits. A Chief Justice and two Justices representing each Class were elected by popular vote of the Student Body. A Court Recorder and Bailiif were appointed by the Court. Court members this year have been Tim Dickey, Chief Justice. and Class Justices. Judy Fay and Jimmie Newcomer. for the Seniors, Jeff Brown and Anita Pankey. Juniors, Bev Zeidler and Judy Robinson, Sopho- more, and Jeannie Woon and Richard Dow, Freshman. Bill McLain was Bailiffg Dodie Wilson, Court Recorder. The Court met twice each week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, during the Sixth Period. vo O ef sei-Sl' ,Q 4
