ANDY TOLSON, Principal Our principal, Andy Tolson, graduated from the University of Arizona in 1926 with A. B. and M. A. degrees. He immediately began teaching at THS and did so until 1932, when he became Dean of Boys. His next step was as Assistant Principal, in 1942, then Principal in 1950. Aside from his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Tolson found time to coach baseball for 15 years during which 7 champion- ships were won, and to coach football for 6 years. Our principal was born in Teicas, schooled in Globe, and is now residing in Tucson with Mrs. Tolson who is also a graduate of the University of Arizona. Our first Vice-principal, Mr. Gridley, received his A. B. degree from the University of Wisconsin and his Master's from the Uni- versity of Arizona previous to his teaching in THS. First in his career of teaching was History, Civics, American History, and Economics along with assistant coach of basketball. He became Assistant Principal in 1948. Aside from his duties as first Vice-principal, Mr. Gridley has charge of the Athletic Department and of the vocational building.
